Frequently asked questions

The venue is completely unavailable from late June through July, August, and September due to large rehearsals that occupy the entire venue. Additionally, from 24th November to 17th December, the venue hosts KIN London's Christmas Social and is not available for other bookings outside of that partnership.

Club nights are not permitted due to the listed status of the building and the nature of their cultural programme. Sporting events are also not allowed, despite the venue's historical use as a boxing venue.

No agreement exists until a contract and full terms & conditions are signed by both parties and all hire fees and charges are paid in full. Any enquiry, discussion or correspondence should never be taken as confirmation, and the venue reserves the right to vary or cancel hires pre and post contract.

The Assembly Hall can accommodate up to 500 people with Matrix seats in theatre style, plus an additional 250 seats available in the balcony. For events requiring 650-700 people in theatre style, the space can be configured accordingly.

The venue operates primarily on a dry hire basis, allowing you to source external caterers of your choice. They have featured catering suppliers who have previously worked at the venue, and can provide an in-house bar service. There are no permanent kitchens on site, but the Old Servery adjoining the Assembly Hall can be used by caterers to set up equipment.

Folding chairs and trestle tables are available on site. You can also source additional furniture and décor from external suppliers. It is the hirer's responsibility to set up and clear down the space unless discussed with the venue in advance, and this time will be factored into the hire period.

The venue can provide full production in-house including audio, video and lighting. They offer bespoke production quotes based on specific requirements. For smaller spaces like the Council Chamber, they can provide speakers, projectors and monitors.

Dates can be held as first option (confirmed booking), second option (backup if first option cancels), or third option (backup if both first and second options cancel). The venue will contact you if higher priority bookings are cancelled and your option becomes available.

The Council Chamber and Mayor's Parlour have interconnecting doors and can be used together, with the Mayor's Parlour regularly serving as an extension or anteroom for larger events. The Old Servery adjoins the Assembly Hall and can be used by caterers for equipment setup.

The venue runs a fully curated cultural programme, meaning all shows are developed in consultation with the venue. For cultural events, you must contact their Cultural Programme team and demonstrate alignment with their programming vision before proceeding with bookings.
