Frequently asked questions
When is Shoreditch Town Hall unavailable for bookings?
The venue is completely unavailable from late June through July, August, and September due to large rehearsals that occupy the entire venue. Additionally, from 24th November to 17th December, the venue hosts KIN London's Christmas Social and is not available for other bookings outside of that partnership.
What types of events are not permitted at Shoreditch Town Hall?
Due to the listed status of the building and the nature of their cultural programme, club nights are not permitted. Sporting events are also not allowed, despite the venue's historical use as a boxing venue.
How does the booking confirmation process work?
No agreement exists until a contract and full terms & conditions are signed by both parties and all hire fees and charges are paid in full. Any enquiry, discussion or correspondence should never be taken as confirmation, and the venue reserves the right to vary or cancel hires without liability.
What is the booking priority system for dates?
Dates can be held as first option (provisional hold), second option, or third option. If you're second or third option, you'll be contacted if the higher priority booking falls through. The venue will keep you updated on the status of your position.
What furniture and equipment is available on-site?
Folding chairs and trestle tables are available on-site. For larger events, up to 500 Matrix seats can be installed in the Assembly Hall with an additional 250 seats available in the balcony. You can also source external furniture and décor from suppliers.
What catering options are available?
The venue operates primarily on a dry hire basis, allowing you to source external caterers of your choice. They have featured catering suppliers who have previously worked at the venue. An in-house bar service is available, and the Old Servery space adjoining the Assembly Hall can be used by caterers to set up equipment as there are no permanent kitchens on-site.
What production services can be provided in-house?
Full production services are available in-house including audio, video, lighting, speakers, projectors and monitors. A bespoke production quote will be provided based on your specific requirements, with details available in their Production Guide.
Who is responsible for setup and breakdown of the space?
It is the hirer's responsibility to set up and clear down the space unless discussed with the venue in advance. If the venue assists with setup, this time will be factored into the hire period.
How does the venue handle cultural programming enquiries?
The venue runs a fully curated cultural programme where all shows are developed in consultation with the venue. For cultural programming, you must email their Cultural Programme team, though it's a small department with potentially long response times. Your work must align with their programming vision.
What capacity does the Assembly Hall accommodate for different setups?
The Assembly Hall can accommodate up to 500 people in theatre style with Matrix seating, plus an additional 250 seats in the balcony. For events requiring 650-700 people in theatre style, the space is suitable with appropriate seating arrangements.
