What is the capacity and pricing for the Wilberforce Room for wedding ceremonies?

The Wilberforce Room can accommodate up to 150 guests in cabaret layout or 250 in theatre style for ceremonies. Room hire costs £2,450-£3,100 + VAT per day (9:00-17:00), with pricing varying based on specific requirements. The hire includes stage, lectern, projector, screen, PA system with 1 handheld microphone, and Wi-Fi access.

Can we hold both the ceremony and reception at London Museum Docklands?

Yes, you can hire multiple spaces for your wedding day. The Wilberforce Room is ideal for ceremonies, while the Riverside Room (capacity 100 standing reception, £2,000-£2,350 + VAT per day) offers its own private terrace for receptions. You can also combine spaces like the Muscovado Hall for larger celebrations with up to 350 guests standing on the terrace.

What catering options are available and who provides the food?

Bovingdons is the in-house caterer at London Museum Docklands and provides all wedding catering. They offer various packages including Christmas packages starting from £107-£162 + VAT per person, with options for canapés, bowl food, buffets, and sit-down dinners. All catering must be arranged through Bovingdons - external caterers are not permitted.

What are the venue's operating hours and access times?

The venue typically operates with access from 8:00-9:00am and events running until 17:00-23:00 depending on the booking. For weddings, you can arrange extended hours with departure times up to midnight (23:00) for evening celebrations. Setup and breakdown times can be arranged outside of event hours.

Is the venue fully accessible for guests with mobility requirements?

Yes, London Museum Docklands is a fully accessible venue. However, there is only one lift in the building which is shared with museum visitors during public opening hours. The venue can accommodate guests in wheelchairs and has disabled parking access available.

What AV equipment is included and what additional technical support is available?

All rooms include basic AV: projector, screen, PA system with 1 handheld microphone, and Wi-Fi. Additional services available include AV technician support (£250-£350 + VAT), extra microphones (£50 + VAT each), stage setup (£500-£600 + VAT), and uplighters (£25 + VAT each, with 4 included in some packages).

Can we arrange tours or unique experiences for our wedding guests?

Yes, private tours of the museum are available as an optional add-on for £420 + VAT for up to 25 people per guide. The venue is located in a Grade I listed Georgian warehouse, allowing guests to explore London's maritime history. Tours can be arranged during breaks or as part of the wedding experience.

What is the booking process and how far in advance should we book?

Popular dates are often held on 'second option' while other clients make decisions, so early booking is recommended. The events team works Monday-Thursday 9:30am-5:15pm, with Friday inquiries handled by the general venue hire email. You'll work directly with the Events Sales & Marketing Manager throughout the booking process.

Are there any restrictions on decorations, music, or entertainment?

The venue can accommodate DJ services and live music, with partnerships available through providers like Prelude for DJ services. As a Grade I listed building, there may be restrictions on decorations and installations, so discuss your specific requirements with the events team during planning to ensure compliance with heritage regulations.

What outdoor space is available for wedding photography and guest mingling?

The Riverside Room includes access to a private terrace that can accommodate up to 350 guests standing. This outdoor space provides excellent opportunities for wedding photography, cocktail receptions, and guest mingling with views of West India Quay. The terrace is included when hiring the Riverside Room.
