Grand Connaught Rooms brochureStanding on Great Queen Street, that connects Covent Garden with Holborn in the West End of London, is the Grade II* listed De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms. With a history dating back to 1775, the building has long been an important event venue, and was once home to the original Freemasons’ Tavern before becoming a hotel in 1909.
Since then, the venue has hosted some of the world‘s leading politicians, royalty and celebrities with its grand Georgian architecture and art-deco interiors offering 37 exceptional spaces for a wide range of conferences, exhibitions, celebrations and weddings.

What are the dry hire rates for business events and what's included?
Dry hire packages start from £10,000.00 and can be reduced to £14,000.00 inclusive of VAT for certain events. Room hire is VAT exempt and includes meeting room hire, pads and pencils, free comprehensive Wi-Fi throughout the site, and chilled conference mineral water inside the room.
What are the capacity limits for different room setups?
Room capacities vary by space and setup: Dorset Suite accommodates up to 60 delegates in classroom style, Cambridge Suite up to 24 in boardroom style, Cornwall Suite up to 200 cabaret or 250 theatre style, and the Grand Hall up to 400 cabaret or 650 theatre style. Boardrooms accommodate 10-13 delegates, and syndicate rooms range from 45-105 delegates in theatre style.
What are the mandatory security requirements and costs?
Security is compulsory for events based on guest numbers: 1-200 guests require 2 guards, 201-400 guests require 4 guards, and 401-600 guests require 6 guards. Security costs £29.40 per hour inclusive of VAT with a minimum 4-hour booking and must be paid no later than 1 month prior to the event.
What are the additional catering costs beyond the Day Delegate Rate?
Additional catering includes unlimited tea, coffee and refreshments at £11.50 per person inclusive of VAT, energizing lunch at £20.95 per person, sandwich lunch at £12.95 per person, bacon or egg bap at £4.95 per person, and Danish pastries at £4.00 per person. Tea, coffee and refreshments per serving cost £3.95 per person inclusive of VAT.
What AV equipment is included and what are upgrade costs?
Basic package includes 1 flipchart and 3000 lumen LCD projector with 8'x6' screen. LCD projector and screen upgrades start from £195.00 inclusive of VAT, with bigger screen upgrades available at additional charges. AV quotes are provided by their supplier upon request for specific requirements.
What are the booking hold policies and decision deadlines?
The venue offers joint 1st option holds for events. Booking holds require decisions by specific deadlines - for example, a Friday 15th August event required confirmation by 1pm on Thursday 7th August or the booking would be released. If no updates are received, provisional space holdings are released.
What room hire rates apply for syndicate and breakout spaces?
Syndicate room hire costs £650.00 VAT exempt per room (reduced from £1,500.00). Available rooms include Oxford, Cambridge, Covent Garden Suite, Dorset, Durham, Derby, and Holborn suites with capacities ranging from 45-105 delegates in theatre style. Boardrooms 1-4 also cost £650.00 VAT exempt per room and accommodate up to 12 delegates in boardroom style.
What are the minimum spend requirements for post-meeting receptions?
Post-meeting drinks require a minimum spend of £3,000.00-£5,000.00 inclusive of VAT with at least 50% spent on food. If the guaranteed minimum spend is not reached, the remaining balance is charged as room hire. Unlimited drinks packages range from £25.00 (1 hour) to £70.00 (3 hours) per person, with Prosecco available for an additional £10.00 per person.
