Grand Connaught Rooms brochureStanding on Great Queen Street, that connects Covent Garden with Holborn in the West End of London, is the Grade II* listed De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms. With a history dating back to 1775, the building has long been an important event venue, and was once home to the original Freemasons’ Tavern before becoming a hotel in 1909.

Are there any minimum spends, package requirements, or hidden fees?
Both minimum spend and package options are available for hire of the Penthouse Suite and Terrace Club. All quotations are inclusive of VAT, and subject to a discretionary 3% service charge. Additional AV items or upgraded equipment will be quoted for separately.
What are the venue’s time slot restrictions for corporate or social events?
Day bookings run between 09:00 to 17:00, with all spaces to be vacated by 17:00 (additional de-rig charges apply if this is not met). For evening events, our standard event hours are between 18:00 - 00:00.
What are the capacity limits for the Business and meeting suites?
Capacities vary by room: main suites like Cornwall are suited for 180–250 in conference or cabaret layouts, while syndicate and breakout rooms range from 28 (boardroom) to 64 (cabaret style). Small suites are suitable for meetings of 12–30. The Penthouse Suite accommodates up to 28 boardroom or 32 cabaret.
What exactly is included in the standard Day Delegate Rate or meeting package?
A typical DDR package includes main room hire, full catering (arrival pastries, smoothies, lunch), continuous tea and coffee, AV setup (projector and screen), Wi-Fi, pads and pencils, and chilled water. Upgrades or additional AV are extra.
Are there mandatory costs for AV, security, or additional services for business events?
Standard AV (LCD projector, screen, Wi-Fi) is included in DDR packages. There are no mandatory security costs for daytime business events, however security is required for events taking place between the hours of 18:00 - 01:00. Optional AV upgrades or a dedicated technician will incur extra charges, with specifics to be quoted separately.
Can I bring in my own caterers or AV suppliers, or do I have to use in-house services?
Catering is provided in-house, as part of an existing package or minimum spend. Dry hire packages allow for an external caterer, selected from our list of accredited suppliers.
What is the booking process step-by-step and how long will my provisional hold last?
Holds can be placed provisionally but may be released without notice if there is no update—no specific timeframe is guaranteed. To secure a date, agreement on pricing and event details is required, followed by contract signing and deposit payment. If you do not respond or confirm, your provisional hold can be released at the venue’s discretion.
Are there seasonal variations in pricing or any special discounts available?
Clients have noted that hire prices may be lower in off-peak periods like January, but no specific figures are given. No fixed seasonal rates or published discounts are confirmed; you must enquire to obtain current offers or reductions for quieter periods.
What restrictions or prohibitions apply to business/social events in the Business space?
Space must be vacated by the specified time to avoid de-rig charges. The venue’s style is not highly traditional (for business events) but the main Grand Hall and some suites have heritage décor—modern suites are available by request. No explicit restrictions on event type are listed, but details like external food, late-night access, or special set builds must be individually negotiated.
