Frequently asked questions

Room 1847 (private dining space) has a room hire fee of £750-£1,500 plus VAT with a minimum food & beverage spend of £2,000-£2,500 plus VAT and 12.5% service charge. The minimum menu price starts from £45 plus VAT per person with preorders required. All food and drink from their menus count towards the minimum spend requirement.

Room 1847 can accommodate up to 60 guests for seated dining. The Lecture Hall and Council Chamber combined can accommodate up to 80-90 guests for banqueting with round tables of 8 or 10. The Council Chamber alone can seat up to 32 guests cabaret-style.

Surveyors House is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Events typically run during weekday hours, with evening events available until 23:00-23:30. Room hire for meetings is available Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm at £667 plus VAT per day.

Day Delegate Rate packages start from £49-£89 plus VAT per person including arrival refreshments, lunch, and breaks. Hot fork buffet upgrades cost £10-£20 plus VAT per person. Private dining menus start from £45 plus VAT per person with preorders required, and all catering counts towards minimum spend requirements.

Standard AV includes in-built screens, projectors, speakers, and microphones. The Lecture Hall features an in-built stage with lectern and microphone capabilities. Additional AV assistance is provided upon arrival and available on calls during events.

Standard booking holds are typically 5 working days, though some quotes mention holds until specific dates (e.g., 26 February 2025, 28 May 2025). To secure an event, they send a contract and deposit invoice after the hold period.

A discretionary service charge of 12.5% applies to catering. Cloakroom service is included in most packages. Security and staffing are included in evening packages. All prices are quoted plus VAT at 20%.

Day Delegate Rate packages require minimums of 20-80 guests depending on the space. Room 1847 private dining has a 40-person minimum for all-inclusive packages. Reception packages typically require 60-75 person minimums for festive events.

Unlimited drinks packages cost £20 plus VAT per person for 1 hour, £30 for 2 hours, and £37 for 3 hours, including house wine, beer, and soft drinks. Reception packages include arrival drinks (Prosecco/Champagne) and multi-hour unlimited packages as part of the overall per-person price.

Room 1847 is a private events space on the 1st floor above Searcys Bar & Brasserie, accommodating up to 60 guests with a private bar. The Lecture Hall and Council Chamber combination offers exclusive use for larger groups up to 90 banqueting, with the Council Chamber serving as an adjacent networking/catering area.
