Once the original Vestry Hall for the Town Hall, the Council Chamber is the most architecturally significant space, featuring an original and highly ornate moulded ceiling, floor to ceiling columns and stained glass windows.

Located on the ground floor, The Council Chamber is a flexible space ideal for parties and receptions, conferences, launches and talks and can be hired as a singular room, as a breakout, or complimented by the Mayor's Parlour, the adjacent space.

Frequently asked questions

The venue is completely unavailable from late June through July, August, and September due to large rehearsals that occupy the entire venue. Additionally, from 24th November to 17th December, the venue exclusively hosts KIN London's Christmas Social and cannot accommodate other bookings during this period.

Club nights are not permitted due to the building's listed status and the nature of their cultural programme. Sporting events are also not allowed, despite the venue's historical use as a boxing venue. The venue operates a fully curated cultural programme, meaning all shows must be developed in consultation with their Cultural Programme team.

The Assembly Hall can accommodate up to 500 people with Matrix seats in theatre style, plus an additional 250 seats available in the balcony. The Council Chamber and Mayor's Parlour can accommodate 80 guests combined, with the Council Chamber suitable for theatre-style seating and the Mayor's Parlour able to seat 40 people.

The venue operates primarily on a dry hire basis, allowing you to source external caterers of your choice. They have featured catering suppliers who have previously worked at the venue and can provide an in-house bar service. There are no permanent kitchens on site, but the Old Servery space adjoining the Assembly Hall can be used by caterers to set up equipment.

Folding chairs and trestle tables are available on-site for events. For larger theatre-style events, up to 500 Matrix seats can be installed in the Assembly Hall with an additional 250 seats available in the balcony. You are welcome to source additional furniture and décor from external suppliers if needed.

The venue can provide full production in-house including audio, video, and lighting equipment. For the Council Chamber, they offer speakers, projectors, and monitors. Bespoke production quotes are provided based on specific requirements, and detailed information is available in their Production Guide.

It is the hirer's responsibility to set up and clear down the space unless specifically discussed with the venue in advance. If the venue assists with setup, this time will be factored into the hire period and may affect pricing.

No agreement exists until a contract and full terms & conditions are signed by both parties and all hire fees and charges are paid in full. Any enquiry, discussion, or correspondence should never be taken as confirmation of booking. The venue reserves the right to vary or cancel hires without liability even after contracts are signed.

Dates can be held as first option (provisional hold), second option, or third option. Second option means another event already has provisional hold but isn't confirmed - you'll be contacted if it becomes available. Third option means there's already a pencilled event plus a second option ahead of you.

From 26th November to 12th December 2025, the venue hosts KIN's Christmas Social concept for 150-500 guests. These parties run Tuesday-Friday only, with available dates including 2nd and 9th December, plus 26th and 28th November. The package includes KERB's street food, unlimited drinks, and glamorous theming.
