The Rockefeller Lounge at The Oyster Shed

The Oyster Shed offers three main event spaces: the Rockefeller Lounge (semi-private area accommodating up to 130 guests standing), the Captain's Table (private room for up to 25 guests), and roped-off areas in the main venue (up to 30 guests standing). The Rockefeller Lounge is a mezzanine overlooking the main restaurant with Thames views and its own private bar, while the Captain's Table is a private room on the balcony level with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Minimum spends vary significantly by space, time, and date: Rockefeller Lounge ranges from £3,500-£6,750 depending on timing and guest count, Captain's Table ranges from £1,000-£1,600, and roped-off areas range from £600-£900. All minimum spends include food, beverage, and 12.5% service charge (inclusive of VAT). There is no separate room hire charge when minimum spends are met.

Standard evening slots run 6:00pm-11:00pm or 6:30pm-11:00pm, with some daytime options like 1:00pm-4:30pm or 12:00pm-5:00pm available. The venue operates as 18+ only after 6:00pm. Some quotes show alternative timings like 4:00pm-11:00pm or 5:30pm-11:00pm, suggesting flexibility depending on availability and requirements.

A 20% deposit is required to secure any booking, payable via an online link sent to your email within 48 hours of receiving it. For some events, there's an alternative £10 per person deposit option that gets redeemed against your final bill. All pre-orders must be paid in full one week in advance of the event, and areas are not held without a deposit.

All group events require pre-ordering from set menus via their online ordering system, with orders and amendments due 5 working days before the event (some quotes mention 2 weeks for larger groups). Individual ordering is not permitted for group events to track minimum spend requirements. All orders go on one accumulative tab that can be split at the end if needed.

The venue is 18+ only after 6:00pm, which affects evening events. This restriction has caused some bookings to be declined when clients had under-18 guests attending evening events. Daytime events before 6:00pm do not appear to have the same age restriction.

Groups can choose from set group menus, reduced à la carte menus for individual ordering, or canapé and sharers menus. For groups of 50 or more, you must select one dish per course for the entire group with individual dietary requirements catered for separately. Wedding packages are available with a £145 per person option that includes arrival Prosecco, wine for the table, and toast Prosecco.

The Captain's Table, while private and sectioned off, is not completely sound-insulated from the rest of the venue. The exact area assigned in the Rockefeller Lounge depends on group size and availability. For exclusive venue hire (weddings), the minimum spend is £25,000 and is only available on Saturdays from September-April or any Sunday throughout the year.
