Frequently asked questions

Venue hire starts at £1,250 for smaller events, with larger events requiring £3,000 for church hire without pew removal, or £4,000-£5,000 for events requiring the full church and garden space. Pew removal costs an additional £500 when needed to create open floor space.

The church can accommodate up to 300 people indoors with standard seating arrangements. For events requiring pew removal and open space, capacity may be reduced but allows for flexible layouts including theatre-style seating for 200 people or mixed standing/seating arrangements.

Yes, hospitality staffing is required at £54 for smaller events. Technical fees are additional and vary based on requirements - basic AV setup starts around £800-£1,800 depending on complexity. All payments to the venue are handled directly, not through third-party platforms.

External catering is permitted but caterers must attend a mandatory site visit to confirm they can operate in the space before booking confirmation. The venue offers basic refreshments including tea and filter coffee at £60, with more extensive catering packages available through approved suppliers.

Weddings cannot be booked through standard venue hire platforms and require going through the church's Reverend directly. Memorial services follow a different process and are handled by Phil who specializes in memorial arrangements, separate from regular event bookings.

Outdoor music must end by 10pm due to sound restrictions. The venue may be unavailable during organ tuning days, which can cause disruption with loud, piercing sounds throughout the day. Specific timing restrictions vary by event type and should be confirmed during booking.

Dates can be held provisionally while details are finalized, and technical requirements are discussed separately after initial booking confirmation.

More about St Paul's Church Covent Garden

St Paul’s Church is a Christian church. It seeks to be welcoming and inclusive of all, especially in the seven protected categories – in the manner of Jesus Christ. We also campaign for equal marriage in the Church of England.

We are committed to championing equality and diversity, and therefore racism, sexism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination have no place here.

We welcome events of all kinds. However, we do not permit any event that denigrates others, that uses abusive or insulting language or that insults Christianity or any other world religion.
