Frequently asked questions

The venue has a minimum requirement of 100 guests for events. If your event has fewer than 100 attendees, The Mermaid London will not be able to accommodate your booking as this falls below their minimum numbers policy.

Pricing starts from £155 per person excluding VAT for events. For Christmas reception packages, the cost is £155 per person excluding VAT, which includes Upper River Room hire from 6:30pm to midnight, arrival drinks reception, 6-item bowl food, unlimited beer/wine/soft drinks package, DJ, dedicated event manager, and cloakroom facilities.

Enquiries are automatically released from the venue's system if no response is received by end of day Monday after initial contact. The venue operates on a 'joint first option' basis for holding dates while clients compare options with other venues.

To receive a proposal, you must provide event start and finish times, exact number of attendees, catering requirements, number of spaces needed, and your budget. Without these details, the venue cannot prepare an accurate quote for your event.

For events with short lead times, the venue requires 100% payment upon booking confirmation. For example, events booked within a week typically need full payment immediately rather than following standard payment schedules.

Site visits are available at any time convenient to clients and can be arranged through the sales team. The venue encourages site visits to help clients get the real feel of the spaces before making booking decisions.

If your budget is below the venue's pricing structure, they will inform you that they cannot accommodate the event. For example, room hire alone starts from £6,000 plus VAT, excluding additional costs like staffing, AV, and catering, so total event costs will be significantly higher.

Drinks receptions can take place at the back of the Newgate Suite or on the Mezzanine, which is a shared space. The Upper River Room can accommodate up to 500 people for standing receptions and offers spectacular views of the London skyline, making it ideal for evening networking events.

AV equipment is supplied by the venue's partner supplier, Rockit. They can provide detailed quotes for any additional AV requirements beyond the basic package, and all technical specifications should be discussed directly with them.

The venue can accommodate events with early access from 6:00am for load-in, with additional charges applying. Standard event hours vary by booking, but the venue can extend into early morning hours for parties, with room hire typically ending at midnight but extension options available.
