Your guests' journey starts with a grand entrance through our historic porch, adorned with classical columns which leads to our spacious lobby. Our beautiful staircase transports invitees to our book-lined Library Room. The Lumley Library is an enchanting grade listed part of the building. A perfect backdrop for your special day.

Frequently asked questions

The Lumley Library can accommodate up to 90 guests for a seated wedding dinner and up to 150 guests for a standing wedding reception. The space includes both the main Lumley Library and the interconnecting Erasmus Wilson Room, which provides a separate area for arrival drinks and cocktails.

Wedding packages start at £100+VAT per person for dinner packages (minimum 70 guests) and £107+VAT per person for private dining packages (minimum 50 guests). Room hire fees range from £1,000-£2,500+VAT depending on timing, with minimum catering spends of £1,700-£4,000+VAT required.

The View requires an 80% deposit to secure your booking, with the remaining 20% due 6 weeks prior to your wedding when the detailed planning takes place. This payment structure applies to all wedding bookings.

Wedding celebrations typically run from 6:00pm to 10:00pm for evening receptions, or 6:00pm to 11:00pm for extended celebrations. Day delegate packages are available from 9:00am to 5:00pm for daytime ceremonies or celebrations.

All wedding bookings include two 65-inch plasma screens, Clickshare wireless presentation facilities, wireless microphones (up to 4 available, mixture of handheld and lapel), and a PA system. An in-house stage is available for hire at an additional charge if needed for ceremonies or speeches.

Wedding packages include arrival champagne, three-course seasonal menus with coffee and petit fours, half a bottle of house wine per person, and still or sparkling water. The venue offers various menu options and can accommodate different dietary requirements through their in-house catering team.

Nothing can be stuck to the walls in the event spaces - no blue tac, tape, or adhesive materials are permitted. However, you can bring free-standing decorations, posters, and displays. The venue can provide flipcharts at £25+VAT each if needed for any displays or signage.

All wedding packages include cloakroom service, on-site security, and access to the historic Lumley Library dating back to 1800 with its impressive collection of surgical books. The space features the main library area plus the interconnecting Erasmus Wilson Room for separate cocktail areas.

Couples should contact The View as early as possible as popular dates book up quickly, with some dates showing as fully booked well in advance. The venue can place spaces on hold while couples make their decision, and site visits can be arranged to view the historic spaces.
