The Garden Room is a delightful, flexible space which can be used for a birthday party, awards ceremony, drinks reception, lecture or seminar. Guests have access to the delightful Rotunda Gardens and the Terrace Garden Room can be hired with the other Terrace Rooms (Terrace Gallery and Terrace Boardroom) for parties of up to 170 people.




Frequently asked questions

The Terrace Boardroom costs £580 plus VAT for 9am-5pm (maximum 12 guests). The Terrace Gallery costs £1,800 plus VAT for 9am-5pm (up to 100 guests). The London Ellipse Hall and Entrance Hall together cost £7,500 plus VAT for 9am-5pm (up to 300 guests). Evening hire rates are higher, with the Terrace Gallery costing £2,700 plus VAT for 6:30pm-11pm.

You must use approved caterers including Seasoned Events and Bovingdons. Christmas packages start from £107pp plus VAT at Docklands and £131pp plus VAT at London Wall. Summer packages start from £106pp plus VAT. Day delegate rates with breakfast, breaks and lunch are available from £40pp plus VAT for smaller groups.

The London Ellipse Hall accommodates up to 250 guests cabaret style with good stage views, or 300 guests with restricted views behind pillars. The Terrace Gallery holds up to 100 theatre style or 90 dinner style. The Garden Room accommodates 45 cabaret or 80 theatre style. The Weston Theatre seats 200 conference style.

Basic AV is included: projector, screen, PA system, Wi-Fi and one microphone per room. The London Ellipse Hall includes LED ellipse display, plasma screen and AV technician. Additional handheld microphones cost £50 plus VAT each. Hybrid streaming options start from £350 plus VAT. Additional screens cost £250 each.

Standard daytime events run 9am-5pm. Evening events typically run 6:30pm-11pm. You can arrange earlier access or additional hours. Setup access may be available the evening before for larger events requiring AV testing. The venue operates Monday to Sunday 10am-5pm for general access.

You must use approved caterers from their supplier list including Seasoned Events, Bovingdons, and Humdingers. The venue has partnerships with specific entertainment providers like DJ Ash through Prelude for Christmas events. All external suppliers must be approved by the venue in advance.

The Entrance Hall is often included with London Ellipse Hall bookings for welcome and catering areas. The Terrace Gallery can be hired with the Garden Room for larger parties up to 170 people. The Weston Theatre includes the Entrance Hall in its £7,600 plus VAT hire fee, though the Entrance Hall alone costs £3,600 plus VAT.

The London Ellipse Hall features a 360-degree digital ellipse display that can show twinkling night lights, swaying chandelier effects, or bespoke commissioned content. This creates a distinctive wow factor as guests arrive. The space includes a stage, lectern, and can accommodate cabaret or theatre layouts with integrated AV systems.

The Terrace Rooms have direct access to private gardens with a beautiful old Horse Chestnut tree as the centrepiece. The Garden Room specifically offers direct garden access and can be used for outdoor elements like BBQs or al fresco dining. London Museum Docklands also has terrace access for outdoor events.

Initial enquiries go through venuehire@londonmuseum.org.uk. The venue provides detailed proposals with 3D virtual tour links. Site visits can be arranged to view spaces. All revenue supports preserving London's artifacts and history, and funds the museum's learning programmes for London school children.
