The venue has a total capacity of approximately 300-315 guests standing before production across 4,500 sq ft over two floors plus a private courtyard. The space offers blank canvas flexibility, allowing you to configure it according to your event needs. Both floors must be hired together as the venue cannot accommodate two simultaneous events.
What are the operating hours and time restrictions?
The venue has a strict 10pm (22:00) cut-off time due to lease restrictions, with no loud activities or receptions permitted after this time. No loud music is allowed after 21:00 to avoid disturbing neighboring residents and businesses. The venue cannot apply for late licenses due to estate restrictions.
What security requirements are mandatory and what do they cost?
Security is mandatory with 1 operative required for setup/de-rig and 2 operatives required when the event is live. Security costs £25-30 per hour per guard and must be arranged through the venue's trusted suppliers. The venue reserves the right to require additional security based on event type and guest numbers.
What AV equipment is included and what additional tech can be arranged?
The venue includes Sonos speakers suitable for background music throughout the space. For events requiring DJs or presentations, you'll need to bring in a separate PA system. The venue can recommend AV production suppliers for additional equipment like sound systems, lighting, and screens, though these come at extra cost.
Can I use external suppliers and what are the associated costs?
External suppliers are permitted but incur a £500 + VAT external supplier fee. The venue provides a list of recommended and accredited food & beverage suppliers who can provide everything from bowl food and canapés to luxurious plated dinners and open bar service. Using approved suppliers avoids the external supplier fee.
What are the loading and setup access arrangements?
The venue offers vehicle access and direct loading options through the private courtyard, making it easy to bring in equipment and supplies. The space has two entrances on different streets (Earlham Street and Shelton Street) providing excellent access flexibility. Setup times can be arranged based on your event requirements.
Are there sound restrictions and what's permitted for different event types?
Sound levels must not disturb neighboring residents and businesses, with no loud music permitted after 21:00. The venue regularly hosts evening receptions and private events including weddings without sound issues, but reserves the right to lower sound levels if necessary. Background music through the Sonos system is acceptable throughout operating hours.
What furniture and equipment does the venue provide?
As a dry hire venue, The Stables does not provide tables, chairs, or other furniture as part of the venue hire. You'll need to arrange furniture rental separately, though the venue can recommend furniture hire suppliers. The space comes with showcase lighting and basic infrastructure only.

The venue can accommodate art exhibitions and displays as it's designed as a blank canvas space.
