The Commons Club Kitchen at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

The Chef's Table in the Commons Club Kitchen: private dining for up to 20 around an open pass, where guests watch Executive Chef Steven Wilson's team cook and plate their dishes. Built for interactive dinners and paired whisky tastings rather than formal banquets, it gives a group sole use of the kitchen's theatre with a menu shaped to their table. WiFi and AV are available for talks and tastings.

Five-star boutique hotel in Edinburgh's Old Town, housed in the restored India Buildings metres from the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Hireable spaces range from the 150-capacity Greyfriars Hall, a 19th-century Gothic Revival former church with 9m vaulted ceilings, to light-filled meeting rooms and a chef's-table kitchen. Ideal for conferences, hybrid meetings, private dining, weddings and receptions, with in-house catering, AV and 222 bedrooms.
