Frequently asked questions
What is the pricing structure for conferencing and workshop events at The Building Centre?
Day delegate rates (DDR) for conferences and workshops are typically £55.00 per person plus VAT. For example, a 120-person conference from 09:00 to 17:00 would cost £6,600.00 plus VAT, including venue hire, all-day refreshments, breakfast, lunch, AV, and technician support. For larger two-day conferences, DDR applies separately for each day and each delegate (e.g., 220 people x £55.00 per day).
Are there minimum or maximum numbers for event bookings?
Capacities depend on room configuration: the Seminar Suite accommodates up to 220 delegates, while smaller spaces like boardrooms accommodate up to 20 people. Some events for 250–300 people have been quoted across multiple connected spaces, but use of multiple rooms and galleries may be needed for higher numbers. Pricing and availability are subject to room size and setup requirements.
What is included in the standard day delegate package?
The executive DDR package for £55.00 per person includes room hire (e.g., Seminar Suite), adjacent catering/networking spaces, all-day tea, coffee and soft drinks, breakfast baps or pastries, lunch (such as salad boxes or bagels), sweet treats, full AV package (including projector, screen, microphones, lectern, clicker, technician), Wi-Fi, and presentation support. Recording and streaming may be included but should be confirmed at booking.
What are the standard timings and access windows for events?
Typical event timings are 09:00–17:00 for daytime events. Access from 07:30 is possible for conferences, and evening events typically run 18:00–23:00 or 19:00–00:00. Earlier access (e.g., from 08:00) and later pack-down (by 17:00 or by arrangement) can sometimes be accommodated, but exact times must be agreed at confirmation.
Are there additional or mandatory costs beyond the quoted package rates?
The DDR covers most event needs for conferences, workshops, and meetings. For evening events or bespoke layouts (such as exhibitions or dry hire), additional charges may apply for extended hours, external catering fees, special AV upgrades, festive décor, or cloakroom staffing. Custom requirements or major deviations from package inclusions should be costed specifically.
Can I bring in external suppliers or caterers, and are there any fees or restrictions?
Use of external caterers is permitted for some event types (such as dry hire) and may carry an additional fee; specific amounts are not listed. In-house catering is standard for DDR events. All external suppliers will require advance approval by the venue and must comply with venue access and health & safety procedures.
Is step-free accessibility provided throughout the venue?
The venue is fully accessible, with step-free access routes to all main event spaces, restrooms, and breakout areas. Accessible restrooms are available nearby event spaces. Flat or lift-assisted loading access is available for exhibitors.
What are the AV inclusions, and is there technical support?
Full in-house AV packages are included with DDR bookings: these cover projector or large screen, PA system, microphones (lectern, top table, roaming), laptop, lectern with stage clicker, and technician/presentation support. Recording and streaming facilities may be provided with select packages; confirm requirements at time of enquiry.
What are the payment terms and booking process?
Booking confirmation typically requires a signed contract and deposit payment, with remaining balance due prior to the event. No specific deposit amount or cancellation policy is listed, so these should be clarified at quotation.
What restrictions or limitations should I be aware of?
Venue is not available on weekends or bank holidays. Evening events must end by midnight. Parking is not provided; the venue has easy public transport access. There are no details on prohibited activities or décor restrictions, but events requiring bespoke arrangements (such as extensive overnight storage or large deliveries) may be subject to availability and extra charges.
Are charity rates or discounts available?
Requests for charity/non-profit rates are accepted for some bookings, but no specific discount structure or eligibility criteria are stated. This should be discussed directly in your enquiry if relevant.
