The Art's Theatre itself was first opened in 1927 as a members-only club for the performance of unlicensed plays, thus avoiding theatre censorship by the Lord Chamberlain's office.
Great Newport street has inexplicably attracted people of the arts from as early as 1722, from acting, poetry, sculpture, pottery and of course photography, this street continues to draw and inspire artists to this day.
