BetaSpace Gallery at Helsinki Design Week

BetaSpace Gallery is an innovative exhibition space located within the Aalto University Otaniemi campus. It is designed to host a variety of events, including art exhibitions, workshops, and educational programs. The upcoming 'Embodied Water' exhibition, running from September 6 to October 3, 2024, showcases experimental art and design concepts developed during the Aalto ARTS Summer School. This exhibition focuses on the global challenges related to water, highlighting its importance through interdisciplinary projects that combine art, design, media, and film. The gallery is an ideal venue for creative events that aim to engage audiences in discussions about social, cultural, and environmental issues.

The Ruoholahti Joint Shelter, also known as Viinatunneli, is a unique venue that offers a glimpse into Helsinki's architectural and historical significance. Originally constructed to transport goods from the Alko factory to a central warehouse, this tunnel was built between 1973 and 1978 and served as a vital part of the city's infrastructure until its closure in 1993. Now repurposed as a civil defense shelter, it has become a popular site for guided tours during events like the Open House Helsinki. The venue can accommodate a maximum of 15 people per tour, making it ideal for intimate gatherings or educational visits. The tours require advance registration, ensuring a personalized experience. This venue is particularly suitable for architecture enthusiasts, history buffs, and those interested in unique urban spaces. The collaboration with Helsinki Design Week enhances its appeal, making it a must-visit during the festival.
