A hidden, romantic 1920s Shanghai-themed bar in Chinatown for private parties up to 30 guests.

The Peony bar is Opium's hidden gem, nestled somewhere within our labyrinthine corridors, behind the red curtain on the second floor. Peony bar has very different feel to the rest of the venue - it's the Yan to Opium's Ying and is often considered the most romantic room in the building. Despite being the smallest of all three bars it's a great self-contained space for private party up to 30 guests, who will be served by your own bartender and look after for the duration of your stay with us. Exclusive hire of the Peony bar includes full waiting staff/bartenders and access to the sound system.

Le Grand Salon Prive is on the first floor above the restaurant, accessible either through the main doors or via a private entrance to the side of the restaurant on Wellington Street. The room has its own bar and lounge, and accommodates up to 60 guests seated or up to 80 standing.

Guests can experience the same exceptional service, delicious food and ambient style of Balthazar in a more intimate setting. Antique timber floorboards, vintage wall sconces and an original pewter bar top create an exclusive environment which, alongside our specially crafted menus, will ensure the perfect setting.
