Top Studio
The smallest of our spaces, the Top Studio has excellent natural light and is suitable for Studio based photography. Like our other smaller studios it serves well as an extra break out space for larger events, whether that be a green room, meeting room, or production office. The Top Studio is available in a full hire or can be hired in itself for filming/photoshoots. Prices show the amount for inclusion in a whole venue hire. Singular hire for eg half day photoshoot is available on request.
Middle Studio
This is a medium sized room ideal as an additional space for larger hires. The rigging points, exposed brickwork and lighting conditions make this a versatile studio and a popular choice for photo shoots. The Middle Studio is available as part of a whole building hire or it can be hired separately for filming or photoshoots. Prices shown are the amount when the Middle Studio is part of a whole venue hire. Hire prices for just this studio for eg a photoshoot/filming are available on request.

The Combustion Chamber (retaining the name of it's former function as the building's furnace hall when it was a power station) is the largest space available. Pillarless construction creates an unrestricted 425 sqm floor space with excellent sight lines, affording limitless potential for an event space. The Combustion Chamber also has direct access from our Courtyard which allows for smooth and easy access for load in/out. The Combustion Chamber is available for part hires and whole building hires.

The Generating Chamber is the smaller of our two main spaces. It was originally home to the generators for the power station. Retaining the period industrial features of the buildings former life, the exposed red brickwork creates a warm atmosphere complimented by natural light. The Generating Chamber is available as part of a whole building hire.

The Courtyard is a large exterior space, which provides excellent get in and delivery access to the venue, as well as serving as a versatile outdoor events space. We accommodate street food vans, tents and outdoor furniture. Large double doors lead to the Combustion Chamber, and a series of glass doors provide access to the Lower Link area. The Courtyard is available as both part and full building hire.

The Creation Studio is purpose built for circus, theatre and dance. It is adjacent to the Combustion Chamber and has multiple doors that connect the two rooms. It is an ideal space for a break out room, meeting room or catering prep area. With huge windows, it has plenty of natural light or can be made fully dark with our blackout curtains. There is also direct access to a smaller courtyard which is great for load in/out and deliveries. The Creation Studio is available as part of a whole building hire and can be added on to a part hire at an extra cost.

The Lower Link is an open spacious room that connects the Generating Chamber and the Combustion Chamber, with large double doors that open out on to the Courtyard. It is ideal for a registration / cloakroom area for events, as well as a smaller breakout space. The Lower Link is included in both part and full building hires.

The Upper Link is one of our smaller studios. It is directly above the Lower Link and is great for an additional breakout area or green room. The Upper Link comes with a full hire and can be added to a part hire.

Retaining the features and character of an imposing industrial space, the building began life as a Victorian Power Station in 1896. Located in the heart of Shoreditch & a few minutes walk away from Old Street tube station, these multi-functional spaces are suitable for all types of productions & events. Bigger corporate hires are most welcome!
We are an unusual venue in that the building is also home to the National Centre for Circus Arts - a charity dedicated to supporting circus arts education & development. All revenue from commercial venue hire goes directly to the running of the centre.
