The Geffrye Museum

Grade 1 listed 19th Century almshouses surrounded by tranquil gardens in Hoxton, minutes north of the City. The Geffrye Museum explores home and home life from 1600 to the present day through a series of evocative period London living rooms and gardens. The museum's green and peaceful setting and central location make it an ideal venue for receptions, cocktail parties, press launches, talks, meetings and wedding receptions.

Art Rooms

These two creative studio spaces in the museum's 20th-century wing are spacious, light and fully kitten out with screens, projectors and even sinks. With panoramic views of the private wildflower gardens, the rooms are ideal for creative sessions, brainstorming, away days, team-building activities, meetings and talks. Free access to the galleries is included in daytime hires and our in-house caterers can supply locally sourced, freshly prepared refreshments and lunches. NB Please note that the capacities are per room. There are two identical Art Rooms, ideal for breakout sessions.

Front Lawns

Expansive manicured lawns and established plane trees with the backdrop of the 300 year old Grade-I listed almshouses of the Geffrye Museum make this an iconic and unique venue for events. Located on the desirable Kingsland Road in Hoxton, the location is ideal for both public and private events. The space can be used for promotional activity with public audiences in the daytime and private events with potentially huge capacities in the evenings.

A vast amount of open green space in the heart of Hoxton, this manicured lawn with original cast iron railings right on Kingsland Road is often described as one of London's gems. A perfect backdrop for open air events, both public and private.

Ideal as a silent cinema outdoor screening venue. Having worked in collaboration with several film screening companies the front lawns of the museum have hosted over 500 people per night to enjoy movies as the sun goes down, drowning out the hubbub of East London with wireless headphones for an enjoyable and unique screening experience.

Georgian Room

An elegant panelled room decorated in early Georgian style and hung with paintings from the museum's collection. This event space is ideal for a wide range of events from meetings and talks to private dining and intimate receptions. This room can be used independently or combined with private views of the galleries and gardens. With a drop down screen, projector and blackout blinds, the space can be used for business events and presentations throughout the day and evening.

An atmospheric and unique space for intimate private dining. No production is needed when hosting an event in this elegant panelled room, decorated in early Georgian style with paintings from the museum's collection. With dimmable chandeliers and wall lights in addition to the available uplighters, all you need are tables and chairs to make this a dining venue to be remembered.

As a dedicated event space, the Georgian room can be used through the day and night, independent of the museum's opening hours. With direct access to the space from the front lawns, it is ideally located for pop-up events, located right on Kingsland Road. The adjacent kitchen makes it suitable for pop-up restaurants and dining experiences as well as catering to a private party or press events.
