Main Church at St Olave Church Hart Street

A rare medieval survivor in the City of London – Grade I listed and mid-15th-century, and one of only a handful of City churches to withstand the Great Fire of London. Film and photo shoots draw on ragstone walls, a 15th-century tower with a 17th-century top stage and lantern and a stone-vaulted crypt surviving from the late 12th century, along with the colourful monument to Sir James Deane (d. 1608) and the Pepys vault and memorial on the south wall. Outside, the 1658 stone gateway opens onto a churchyard with benches and a herb garden.

Grade I-listed medieval Church of England church in the City of London, one of only eight City churches to remain from before the Great Fire of London and the burial place of diarist Samuel Pepys. Its Main Church, seating up to 180, hosts the church's own lunchtime and evening concerts and recitals and is available to hire for concerts, lectures, memorials and weddings, with medieval stonework, a piano and A/V equipment. An active place of worship; bookings subject to church approval.
