The Rooftop has several areas with different minimum spends: Full Rooftop hire starts from £25,000-£30,000 including VAT, Deck area from £14,000 including VAT, Gallery area from £12,000-£16,000 including VAT, and The Room from £3,000 including VAT. All minimum spends are on food and beverage services, plus a mandatory 13% discretionary service charge.
What are the capacity limits for each area of The Rooftop?
The Full Rooftop can accommodate up to 180 attendees in a reception layout, the Deck area up to 100 attendees, the Gallery area up to 60 attendees, and The Room up to 25 attendees. All capacities are for standing reception format.
What are the operating hours and music restrictions for events?
Events are available from 15:00 to 24:00, with music permitted to play until 24:00. All areas are equipped with retractable canopies for adverse weather conditions and heaters for comfort.
Are there specific day-of-week restrictions for bookings?
Yes, on Wednesdays and Thursdays, only full exclusive hires of The Rooftop are offered. Partial area bookings (Deck, Gallery, or Room) are not available on these days.
How far in advance can events be booked and are there any booking limitations?
The venue cannot provide quotes for bookings beyond January 2025 currently. For groups of 60 guests or less, quotes are only provided a maximum of 30 days prior to the event date. For smaller groups under 25 guests not requiring private space, contact the Rooftop team directly at 30 days prior to the event.
What happens if the minimum spend is not met during the event?
If the agreed minimum spend on food and beverage is not met during your event, the remaining amount will be charged as room hire. The 13% discretionary service charge is applied to the final food and beverage total.
What catering options are available and how are they priced?
Catering includes 3 canapés at £14.00 including VAT per person, Bowl and Buns from £27.00 including VAT per person, and sweet selection from £12.00 including VAT per person (including 3 items). All catering counts toward your minimum spend requirement.
Are there restrictions on entertainment and AV equipment?
Both DJs and live bands are permitted at The Rooftop. The venue can accommodate AV requirements, but specific technical details and additional costs for equipment should be confirmed during the booking process.
What is the booking and payment process for private events?
The venue requires confirmation of guest numbers, specific date requirements, and event details before providing tailored proposals. Setup time is complimentary from one hour before the event, and teardown is also complimentary for one hour after the event ends.

The Trafalgar St. James offers 137 bedrooms including three luxury suites for guests requiring accommodation. The Rooftop features stunning landmark views over London, Art Deco design, and outdoor areas perfect for cocktail receptions with city skyline views.
