Imagination Rules at the Design Museum

The Design Museum is the world’s best for contemporary art, design, architecture, and fashion, and it is evident in the design of these event spaces. Easily one of the coolest venues available in London, the Design Museum isn’t just for exhibitions and art gallery visits, it is also a mix of eclectic event spaces, each one unique in its own right. Designed by John Pawson, all spaces in this venue are housed under the impressive hyperbolic paraboloid roof, which is made from 25 tonnes of copper, and is an original design feature.

Design Museum

From receptions, to galas, dinners and those all-important product launches, the Design Museum is both stylish and effortlessly versatile. The light, airy Chumsri and Luqman Lounge has the ability to seat 45 guests in its long and impressive space that boasts a unique collection of Philip Sayer photographs of 30 different designers, Barber Osgerby designed furniture, and a unique pewter bar. It offers some of the best views of the museum itself as well Holland Park, and would be perfect for an intimate event such as a private dinner or drinks reception.

Private Dinner

The creativity of the Museum doesn’t just stop there, with the Helene and Johannes Huth Gallery also a perfect spot to launch that all important product. It is a larger venue, with 220 standing guests, and a retractable wall, which allows the space to be split into two smaller rooms. With floor to ceiling windows, this space also has beautiful views of Holland Park and is a flexible blank space meaning you can really make it your own. It is a bespoke setting, not just for product launches, but also for drink receptions, conferences, and awards dinners.

Conferences

The versatility continues in the smaller, flexible spaces within the venue. These include the Ulm and Bauhaus Room and the Dessau. The Ulm & Bauhaus Room is part of the Design Museum’s Swarovski Centre for Learning. It features a retractable wall, so the space can be as large or minimal as you like, and Vitra furniture, for a theatre style, cabaret or boardroom style layout. The Dessau is an intimate meeting room space; the windows overlook the library and the interior is bright and airy - perfect for creative thoughts to flow. Both spaces are ideal for workshops, training days and meetings.

The Dessau

For the ultimate event, host it in The Atrium. It is the Design Museum’s showcase space with its unique sense of drama. Featuring fantastic views of the roof, and surrounding architecture, the space is ideal for evening drinks receptions, award ceremonies and dinners. With its eclectic design it also lends itself perfectly contemporary fashion world. There is capacity for up to 270 standing guests on one floor, or up to 800 if combining all three floors, creating an unusual yet captivating catwalk.

Design Museum

Every inch of the building oozes with contemporary style and creativity. With the huge range of spaces available, it's bound to suit any requirement - it's truly a space you can make your own.
