Upper Room - Premium Hybrid Space for Events & Conferences at King's House

The standard Conference & Events package is £500 per hour, with a minimum charge reflecting the set-up and pack-down time agreed for your event. The package includes use of the Upper Room (200 theatre or 100 dining capacity), Standard AV, and two event staff. VAT is charged at 20% on top of all costs.

Mandatory additional costs are post-event cleaning (£150), and if required, unlimited teas and coffees at £3.50 per person. There is also a refundable security surcharge equal to 20% of the total booking amount; additional time or costs will be deducted from this surcharge if incurred.

Standard AV includes access to 2 65" TVs, a 150" projector screen, wireless handheld microphones, stage lighting, ProPresenter software, HDMI connectivity, and more. Advanced AV options such as live streaming, video recording, and live music support are available at an additional cost.

The Upper Room accommodates up to 200 people in theatre seating or 100 people in dining setup. The venue cannot exceed these numbers for any event, unless it is a standing event of up to 240.

External event bookings at King's House are only accepted Thursday to Saturday, as well as Wednesday until 5pm. Events on Sundays or other days are not accommodated at this venue.

To confirm a booking, a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total cost is required. Additionally, a refundable security surcharge of 20% of the total is due. The balance and further payment deadlines are not specified in the available information

The venue operates as a dry-hire space aside from teas and coffees. External caterers are permitted provided they have Public Liability Insurance and agree to a site visit prior to the event. Recommended caterers have already met these criteria.

Events typically take place during the day, for example 09:00–17:00 or 13:00–17:00. All quoted times and charges must include set-up and pack-down within your booking window; additional time beyond this will incur further charges deducted from your security surcharge.

A 33% charity discount may be offered for qualifying organisations (e.g. NHS bookings), reducing the hourly rate to £380 per hour for the main package, but still subject to VAT and all other mandatory charges.

King's House does not accept bookings for parties or private celebrations such as birthday parties, and cannot host events outside Thursday–Saturday, and Wednesday until 5pm. Decorations and alcohol are welcome with written consent for the specific requests (please email hire@kingshouse.org.uk).
