Bretton Hall (Groucho Bretton) is a Grade II* listed historic mansion located within the 500-acre Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield. Built circa 1720, the property was formerly Bretton Hall College (1949-2001) and a Leeds University campus (2001-2007). Currently under development by Artfarm and Rushbond Group, the hotel will open in late 2026 as a luxury members' club and hotel with 40 bedrooms. Designed to reflect the iconic style of the London Groucho Club (operated by Artfarm, founded by Hauser & Wirth leaders Iwan and Manuela Wirth), Bretton Hall will feature premium accommodations, multiple restaurants and bars, spa facilities, conference and event spaces, and comprehensive business amenities. The venue welcomes non-members who receive member-rate benefits during their stay, making it ideal for corporate events, conferences, and upscale retreats. Excellent transport connectivity includes direct rail access to London (2+ hours), Manchester (1 hour), and Leeds (30 minutes) via nearby Wakefield Westgate station, plus proximity to M1 Junction 38 and on-site free parking.
