Copenhagen Phil
Open Orchestra is a music outreach project aimed at students in grades 4 to 6. The project includes a visit from a group of musicians from Copenhagen Phil to the classroom, providing students with insights into the life of an orchestral musician, learning about different instruments, and hearing the musicians play together. Students and teachers can ask questions about music, instruments, and the life of a musician, creating a unique experience that they carry with them to a larger concert experience with the full orchestra. The concert features an interactive symphonic journey through classical music, allowing students to experience the sound of a large symphony orchestra up close. The concert lasts approximately 30 minutes and is guided by a presenter who shares stories about major classical composers such as Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. Open Orchestra meets the learning objectives for music education for grades 5 and 6, focusing on music understanding, experience, history, function, and analysis.
