The minimum spend covers food and beverages from The 1 Bar's menu.
What is the maximum capacity for private events and what are the age restrictions?
The venue can accommodate up to 200 people for standing receptions. The 1 Bar is a 21+ venue only, so all guests must be 21 years of age or older. Events with guests under 21 are not permitted at the venue.
What food options are available and how much do they cost?
The venue offers pizzas at £10.70 each (excluding service charge), with options including Margherita, BBQ Chicken, Pepperoni, and Vegetarian. You can bring your own additional snacks like popcorn and sweets to place on tables. Food costs contribute towards your minimum spend requirement and no pre-payment is required.
What entertainment is included and what are the music restrictions?
The venue provides in-house DJs, professional singers, and a magic mirror photo booth at no additional cost. You can bring external DJs and musicians, but they must have their own insurance and the venue will specify preferred music genres to avoid. All external entertainment requires prior approval from the venue.
What are the decoration policies and restrictions?
You can add decorations but must remove them at the end of your event and are liable for any damage to walls or paint. Command strips are acceptable for wall attachments. Fixed furniture like drawers cannot be moved but you can decorate around them. The venue does not provide easels, so you must source your own if needed.
How do welcome drinks work and what are the costs?
Welcome drinks can be provided through tokens redeemable for prosecco, wine, beer, and soft drinks under £10 per person. For 100 guests, prosecco welcome drinks cost £630 (20 bottles). Alternatively, you can set a budget per head (e.g., £10) and guests can choose from qualifying menu items, with any excess paid by the guest.
What insurance is required for private events?
You must purchase public liability insurance for your event. External DJs and musicians must provide their own insurance documentation, which the venue will verify. You do not need equipment cover for DJ equipment as the DJs themselves carry this insurance.
What deposit is required and when is payment due?
A £1,000 deposit is required to secure your booking, which can be applied towards welcome drinks or other costs. The remaining balance is settled on the night of the event. Food costs are added to your tab and contribute towards the minimum spend requirement.
