The fully accessible Godfrey Mitchell Theatre is located on the lower ground. This theatre is ideal for small conferences, presentations, lectures, seminars, product launches, press conferences and AGM's. We're fully equipped with state-of-the art presentation technology. St Martin’s Hall is a beautiful room with oak panelling and even though the space is situated underground the room has an abundance of natural daylight. 

There is fresh air supply, under floor heating, WIFI, adjustable lighting and has its own private bathrooms and cloakroom. It also has its own separate space for refreshments in the ‘Lightwell’ which is situated right outside the Hall. St Martins Hall can hold up to 130 delegates in a theatre style, 64 delegates in a cabaret style or 32 in a boardroom style.

Located on the ground floor, the Lecture Theatre and Lower Library provides an inviting setting for conferences.

The Theatre was refurbished with help from the Society's Petroleum Group in 1999, and then again for the Bicentenary in 2007. It was named the Janet Watson Lecture Theatre in 2009, in honour of Professor Janet Vida Watson FRS (1923-1985), of Imperial College London, the Society's first woman President (1982-1984).

The Lower Library was originally the Society's Main Library. It is now mainly to store foreign periodicals and is used for social gatherings and for refreshments.
