Home of The British Academy, this Grade 1 listed building is in one of the most fashionable postcodes of London. {10-11} Carlton House Terrace was built in the 1820's as a suitable back drop to the Mall and St James's Park. The venue boasts 10 event spaces across the two original townhouses, with contrasting entrances which provide a real 'wow factor' for your guests on arrival. This venue can offer exclusive hire of the whole building, dinners up to 100 guests, standing receptions up to 498 guests and conferences up to 125.

Wolfson Room & Gallery

The Wolfson room is a unique setting for your next conference, lecture or AGM. The room boasts large windows, electric blinds and air conditioning, as well as being equipped with a stage, lectern, audio lectern, PA system and projector We also have a on site AV technicians who can sit in during your event to put your mind at ease. The Wolfson room comes with a complimentary catering space and a seperate lobby area for registration.

The Wolfson room can be used for a wedding ceremony up to 125 seated and is fully licensed. The room is lightly decorated with a small amount of art around the room and makes for the perfect back drop to the Mall/St James's Park. Whether you prefer to be seated or standing, the Wolfson room boasts capacities of 90 wedding breakfast with a top table and 200 guests standing. With the light colour of the room, you can decorate as you please to make the room suitable for your perfect day. Whenever the Wolfson is hired, you immediately receive the Gallery space for drinks.

The Wolfson is a perfect setting for a private dinner in the former home of the longest serving Prime Minister, William Gladstone. Music Room

The Music room is one of the most stunning and original rooms and in our building for your wedding ceremony or reception. The Music room is an equally generous space to it's neighbour (Council room), the room is finished with more of a delicate palette, with intricate white wall panelling and painted window blinds surrounded by a number of natural mirrors. For ceremonies up to 70 guests and wedding receptions up to 50 guests.

The room is a natural, light and soft coloured room that is surrounded by an array of mirrors for your use. The Music room is for sure our most popular room for filming and photo shoots as the room really speaks for itself. Natural, pure and ornate make this room a real standout.

Reading Room

The Reading room is a wonderfully bright and light room situated on the ground floor of the Number 10 side of the building. The Reading room has a library section with books donated by the British Academy and a lovely alcove section perfect for your catering requirements. The type of events perfect for the Reading room are; conferences, seminars, evening receptions, private dinners, wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions.

The Reading room is perfect for private dinners because the room has a wonderful high ornate ceiling, a central chandelier, large windows and a stunning view of the Mall over to Horse Guards Parade. The alcove section in the Reading room is perfect for a pre dinner reception and the main space can either be a boardroom dinner or on our round tables.

Lecture Room

The Lecture room is a perfect room for a lecture, seminar, conference or wedding reception. The room is situated at the north of the Number 10 staircase and is rich in history dating back to the 1820's. The Lecture room has floor to ceiling windows, wonderful French panel windows facing the Number 10 staircase and a unique ceiling commissioned by the Ridley family inspired by Delacroix. The ceiling was however never finished and stands as a real masterpiece today. Currently the room has an in-built stage, lectern, lectern microphone, PA system and data projector and screen.

Council Room

The ornate Council room overlooks the garden square around Carlton House Terrace down to Pall Mall. The large windows also overlook the Duke of York statue and is situated at the top of the Number 10 staircase. The most popular aspects of this room are of course the history, the large royal guilt-framed period portraits and the ornate ceiling details above the portraits. The room is a traditional classic and a popular room for many types of events from boardroom events to filming, wedding and private dinners.

The ornate Council room overlooks the garden square around Carlton House Terrace down to Pall Mall. The large windows also overlook the Duke of York statue and is situated at the top of the Number 10 staircase. The Council room is licensed for wedding ceremonies and is also used for wedding receptions. Many of our brides and grooms opt for the Council room as either a wedding ceremony space or wedding reception space due to the fact, the door situated between the Council and Music rooms makes these two rooms a great combination of ceremony and wedding breakfast spaces up to 70 guests.

Mall Room

The Mall room is situated on the Number 10 side of Carlton House Terrace and offers real artistic feel to this room. The Mall room has a wide range of art based on the British Academy past and present and offers great views of the Mall all the way down towards Buckingham Palace & St James's Park. The Mall room is a great setting for a boardroom meeting (maximum 30), theatre style (maximum 70) event or cabaret setting (maximum 40). For fine dining, the Mall room can comfortably hold 60 guests seated or up to 100 guests for a standing reception.
