Making the Modern World displays an exceptional collection which follows the cultural history of industrialisation form 1750 to the current day; it presents some of the museum's most remarkable objects. Making the Modern World is a breath-taking gallery chronicling the inventions that formed modern society available for evening hire.
Showcasing the past, present and future of Britain's engineering history, this striking and versatile space is available for evening hire, perfect for standing drinks receptions for up to 500 guests. Entertain your guests with the 1903 Harle Syke Mill engine which can be operational to bring the gallery to life. Utilise the unique branding opportunities in this space; you can create a message for the LED display of the Energy Ring, there are four plasma screens available for logo branding and you can choose your corporate colours for the colour-phasing ceiling.
An atmospheric space which tells the fascinating story of space exploration this out-of-this-world gallery is available for evening hire. It is perfect for a drinks reception for up to 300 people, or invite up to 180 guests to dine beneath real rockets. Your guests can marvel at a full-sized replica of the 'Eagle', the lander that took astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin to the moon in 1969 and discover how they could live in space with displays of astronauts' food and drink.
With a screen the size of four double-decker buses, an 11.5m-wide stage and an auditorium that seats up to 414 people, our IMAX Theatre is the perfect venue for a large-scale conference. The IMAX Theatre uses image maximum technology, a state-of-the-art surround system and one of the world's most sophisticated projectors, making it ideal for presentations and product launches. Our in-house technical team can provide extensive support or work with your production company to provide a show-stopper event.
A fascinating space celebrating more than 200 years of innovation in information and communication technologies, our newest permanent gallery is available for evening hire. Accommodating up to 492 guests, it is the perfect space for standing drinks receptions. Information Age is divided into six zones, each representing a different technology network. Entertain your guests with the important events that shaped the development of these networks, from the growth of the worldwide telegraph to the influence of mobile phones on our lives today.

Wonderlab: The Equinor Gallery
Available in the evening, fuel your imagination and immerse yourself in a world of wonder at the new and most spectacular interactive gallery in the world. Spread across seven different zones, there's loads of opportunity to get hands-on with real scientific phenomena. Order live experiments at our Chemistry Bar, see a lightning strike before your eyes, play with forces on giant slides or travel through space under a canopy of stars. You can also take part in explosive science demonstrations and shows, led by our talented explainers. The gallery is available to hire for Bat / Bar Mitzvahs.
Mathematics: The Winton Gallery
Choose this gallery for an intimate dining event your guests will not forget. With the capacity for 30 seated on a long table or 24 on rounds, your guests can sit underneath the curved overhead structure which represents airflow around the Handley Page aircraft at its centre.
Illuminate is a progressive new venue designed to both anticipate and surpass the needs of the ever-evolving events industry. Illuminate is situated on Levels 4 and 5 of the Science Museum. It will be available for both daytime and evening hire, with capacities of up to 400 for dinners and conferences and 450 for receptions. Among the unique features of this new space is a panoramic window on Level 5. Offering stunning views of the City and an abundance of natural daylight, it will be a key element in ensuring a productive meeting or conference experience.
Let your imagination soar in this inspiring gallery which tells the story of manned flight through many of the most significant objects in aviation history. Take a journey from Renaissance dreams of human flight to the jump-jets and wide-body aeroplanes of today.
Originally constructed in 1890, the Smith Centre has been elegantly preserved to present four spaces of varying size that suit a wide variety of event purposes. From small meeting rooms for up to 20 guests, to an ample-sized salon accommodating 200 guests for a drinks reception, the Smith Centre provides versatility throughout. Among the original features is an open-plan courtyard area which can be enjoyed in conjunction with daytime hire of the Salon.
Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries
Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries is a suite of five vast and visually stunning galleries which is available for evening drinks receptions for up to 400 guests. With over 3,000 objects in what is the world's largest collection of Medical galleries, there are plenty of stories for your guests to explore on how our lives have been transformed by medical research and practice. Designed by WilkinsonEyre Architects, the five galleries cover 3000m2. The galleries look over our Making the Modern World gallery and feature work by artist Marc Quinn.
