Frequently asked questions
What are the exact venue hire costs and what's included in the base price?
The Postal Museum and Courtyard costs £8,250 + VAT for venue hire with access from 14:00 for setup, earliest guest arrival from 15:00, and guest departure at 23:00. Mail Rail costs £5,500 + VAT for evening events (access 17:00, guests 18:00-23:00) or £6,000 + VAT for some events. Extended hours cost £500 + VAT per hour, subject to availability.
What are the capacity limits for each space and event type?
The Postal Museum and Courtyard accommodates up to 120 standing reception. Mail Rail holds up to 275 standing reception, 200 seated theatre style, or 150 seated dinner. Learning Space A fits 40 seated cabaret or 60 theatre style at £600 + VAT per day.
Are all suppliers required to be from your accredited list and can we bring our own?
All catering, production, floristry, entertainment and other services must be provided by accredited suppliers only. The venue provides an accredited supplier list and offers impartial guidance on supplier selection, but you cannot bring external vendors.
What are the payment terms and deposit requirements?
A 50% deposit is required upon booking with a completed booking form. The remaining 50% balance is payable 60 days before the event date.
When are viewings available and how do I schedule one?
Viewings are offered Tuesday-Friday between 9am-5pm and Monday subject to availability. You meet in The Postal Museum Welcome Space and can arrange a meeting with a team member onsite to discuss your event requirements.
What are the costs for the Mail Rail train experience and how does it work?
The Mail Rail train can be hired for an additional fee with costs varying: £1,500 + VAT for a 3-hour slot, £2,000 + VAT for some events, or £2,400 + VAT for others. Each train accommodates up to 20 guests with 15-minute journeys, departing every 10 minutes.
What are the different pricing structures for weekdays versus weekends?
Monday events when the Museum is closed cost £5,500-£6,000 + VAT for Mail Rail. Tuesday-Sunday events requiring Museum closure cost £20,000 + VAT as a buyout. The Postal Museum and Courtyard pricing appears consistent regardless of day.
What setup and breakdown time is included, and what are the guest arrival restrictions?
Setup access varies by space: Mail Rail allows access from 17:00 with guest arrival at 18:00, while The Postal Museum and Courtyard allows access from 14:00 with earliest guest arrival at 15:00. All events must end by 23:00 unless extended hours are purchased.
What AV equipment and technical facilities are available in each space?
Learning Space A includes a projector with audio and lectern. Mail Rail has industrial architectural features with branding opportunities but specific AV details aren't specified. Technical requirements for other spaces would need to be arranged through accredited suppliers.
Can events run past 23:00 and what are the restrictions?
Standard events end at 23:00 guest departure. Extended hours are available at £500 + VAT per hour, subject to availability. One quote mentioned events until midnight, suggesting extensions are possible but must be arranged in advance.
