The Postal Museum and Courtyard accommodates up to 120 people for standing receptions. Mail Rail has capacity for up to 275 people for standing receptions, up to 200 seated theatre style, or up to 150 for seated dinners. Learning Space A holds 40 seated cabaret style or 60 theatre style.
What are the daytime hire rates and restrictions?
For daytime events Tuesday to Sunday, Mail Rail requires a museum buyout at £20,000 + VAT. However, if you book on a Monday when the museum is closed, Mail Rail costs only £5,500 + VAT with access from 08:00, guest arrival at 09:00, and departure at 17:00. Learning Space A costs £600 + VAT for day hire.
What are the payment terms and booking requirements?
To secure your booking, you must complete a booking form and pay a 50% deposit. The remaining 50% is payable 60 days before the event. The venue offers date holds and requires confirmation to proceed with the booking process.
Are you required to use approved suppliers for catering and services?
Yes, all catering, production, floristry, entertainment, and other services must be provided by The Postal Museum's accredited suppliers. The venue provides an approved supplier list and offers impartial guidance on supplier selection, including making initial enquiries on your behalf.
How much does the Mail Rail train experience cost?
The Mail Rail train can be hired for an additional fee to enhance your event. A 3-hour slot costs from £1,500 + VAT to £2,000 + VAT depending on the event, with trains departing every 10 minutes. Each train accommodates up to 20 guests with a 15-minute journey time.
What are the viewing and site visit arrangements?
Site viewings are offered Tuesday to Friday between 9am-5pm, and Mondays subject to availability. You meet in The Postal Museum Welcome Space and can arrange viewings by contacting the venue sales team directly.
What AV equipment and room features are included?
Learning Space A includes a projector with audio, lectern, and additional space for catering. Mail Rail has industrial architectural features with countless branding opportunities and can accommodate various AV setups. The venue works with accredited suppliers to provide additional AV requirements.
