Frequently asked questions

Venue hire costs vary by date and time, with specific pricing available through their website links for different event types (weddings, occasions, private hire). The base hire fee includes complimentary use of all furniture. You'll need to check their pricing pages for exact costs as rates depend on your chosen date and time slot.

Security is mandatory for most bookings at The Glass House. The exact costs and requirements for security staff are detailed on their extras page, but specific hourly rates and minimum requirements are not provided in the standard enquiry responses. You'll need to review their full staff and hire items list for complete security pricing.

The venue operates as 'dry hire' meaning all food and beverages must come from licensed caterers. You can bring external caterers but there's conflicting information on fees - some responses mention £535 + VAT while others state £550 + VAT for the accreditation buyout fee. External caterers must provide food safety certificates, risk assessments, PAT test certificates, and public liability insurance.

The venue has prep kitchens only, so caterers must bring all equipment needed for service. The kitchens are not full-service facilities, meaning your caterer will need to plan accordingly and bring their own cooking and serving equipment for the event.

All beverages must be provided through accredited caterers as it's a dry hire venue. The venue offers in-house drinks-only options and comprehensive bar services for select venues, though this may not apply to all spaces. You cannot bring your own alcohol - it must come through their approved suppliers or their own bar service.

The venue offers provisional holds for 5 days. This gives you time to confirm details like registrar availability for ceremonies or finalize other arrangements before committing to the booking. After 5 days, you'll need to confirm or risk losing the date.

For wedding ceremonies, you must separately check availability and book with the Hackney Registrar Team through their approved premises booking system. The venue can hold your reception time provisionally for 5 days while you arrange the registrar, but ceremony and reception bookings are handled through different systems.

You can bring your own band or entertainment, but you'll need to provide public liability insurance, risk assessments, and PAT test certificates for any equipment that requires plugging in. The venue does not provide DJ services or equipment - you'll need to arrange this separately through your own suppliers.

Helium balloons are not permitted at the venue. For children's parties specifically, no alcohol is allowed. Other decoration restrictions aren't specified in the standard responses, so you'll need to confirm specific decoration policies when booking.

A £250 damage deposit is required and is fully refundable if no damage or additional costs are incurred by the venue. This deposit is separate from your venue hire fee and will be returned after your event if the venue is left in good condition.
