With it's high ceiling and floor to ceiling windows, the Music Room is a perfect setting for small and intimate dinners from 10 - 50 guests. The Music Room is stacked in history being the former home of the longest serving Prime Minister, William Gladstone.

The Music Room is situated to the left of the main entrance on the 1st floor overlooking the garden square and the other surroundings of Carlton House Terrace.




Frequently asked questions

The Music Room alone is not suitable for dinner and drinks for groups over 40-50 people, so you'll need to book an additional room. For dining events, you'll typically need multiple rooms with venue hire starting from £4,825 VAT exempt for weekday hire or £7,175 VAT exempt for weekend hire from 2pm until midnight, with supplier access from 12pm.

The Music Room can accommodate round table dining for a maximum of 40-50 people. For larger groups wanting dinner and drinks, you must book additional rooms as the Music Room alone cannot handle both dining and reception space for events over this capacity.

All catering is provided exclusively by Searcys, the in-house catering partner. They offer bespoke menu design including South Asian inspired catering and halal options. A minimum evening spend of £1,000 + VAT applies for dinner events.

You must use suppliers from the venue's detailed list of Approved Suppliers for Audio Visual, Production, and Floristry, plus their Recommended suppliers list. Use of any third-party suppliers outside this list must be agreed in writing by the venue before booking.

Standard venue hire runs from 2pm until midnight with access for suppliers starting from 12pm for setup. Access to spaces typically begins from 8am for daytime events, with additional charges applying for catering service required before 8am at £300 + VAT per hour.

Yes, the venue offers seasonal promotions such as a £1,000 discount on venue hire for weddings taking place in October or November. They also offer last-minute booking discounts, such as 20% off venue hire for bookings made close to the event date.

Upon receipt of the signed hire agreement, you'll receive a 50% deposit invoice. You must wait to receive this invoice before making payment as you'll need to quote the invoice number. Full contact details including signatory information and finance contact details are required before contracts can be drawn up.

For events requiring both dining and reception areas, popular combinations include the Council Room and Barnard Room (Council Room seats up to 70 for dinner, Barnard Room for pre/post dinner drinks), or the Beatrice Webb Room with Gallery and Music Room for larger groups up to 100 seated guests.

December is an extremely busy period with all bookings operating on a first-to-confirm basis. Weekend hire rates are significantly higher than weekday rates. The venue staff work flexible hours and may not be available to reply between 9am-5pm, with urgent enquiries directed to call 0207 969 5224.

If your preferred date is fully booked, the venue will send an email stating they will find you an alternative venue. They maintain availability calendars and can suggest alternative dates, but popular periods like December require early booking and immediate confirmation.
