The charming President's Dining Room is on the lower ground floor and fully accessible via the discreet President's staircase or via our lifts. This lovely room is cosy and full of character. With its large period solid wooden table holding up to 18 people, it is the perfect room for a private diner. The room can also be made cosier and given a more intimate feel with winged leather armchairs, solid wood sideboards and closed blue and gold curtains.



Frequently asked questions

Dinner packages start at £88.70+VAT per person for a basic package including 3-course set menu with coffee and unlimited bottled water. The full dinner package is £108.50+VAT per person including pre-dinner drinks (2 glasses house wine), 3-course dinner, half bottle house wine with meal, and room hire for both reception and dining areas. All pricing excludes VAT and requires minimum 30 delegates.

The Council Room accommodates maximum 80 guests for seated dinner, while the Stephenson Room holds maximum 30 for standing reception. For interconnected use of both rooms, maximum recommended capacity is 50 guests total. The venue's maximum capacity for dinner dance events is 220 guests.

Standard dinner events run 18:30-23:00 (4.5 hours total access time including setup/breakdown). Late extension fees apply: 11pm-midnight costs £500, 11pm-1am costs £1,200, and 11pm-2am costs £1,900. All extension fees exclude VAT.

Pre-dinner canapés cost £12.50 per person (3 pieces), choice menu upgrade is £13.50 per person (maximum 3 choices per course), additional course/cheese course is £10.50 per person. Bar setup costs £295 including 2 staff members. Sparkling wine reception upgrade is £2.40 per person, champagne reception upgrade is £10.40 per person.

The venue prohibits naked flames and smoke for decorations. Entertainment is permitted and the venue works with various entertainment suppliers they can recommend. No specific restrictions mentioned for other decoration types or entertainment formats.

There is no minimum spend for dinner packages - you simply pay the per-person package rate (£88.70+VAT or £108.50+VAT depending on package selected). However, all pricing is based on catering for minimum 30 delegates.

Show-round appointments are available Monday-Friday 9:30am-17:00pm, though the building is currently under refurbishment so site visits are limited. The venue offers provisional holds on dates while clients make decisions. Some rooms may be available on waitlist basis if held by other clients.

Weddings are exclusively hosted on Saturdays and Sundays only. Minimum wedding capacity starts at 100 guests with venue hire (excluding catering) at £13,800. Maximum wedding capacity for dinner dance is 220 guests. Dry hire proposals are available for wedding events.

Yes, alcohol-free events are accommodated due to religious or other reasons. The alcohol-free dinner package is £88.70 per person including 3-course meal, coffee, and unlimited bottled water. Non-alcoholic drinks can be added and charged on consumption basis.

Popular combinations include Council Room (80 seated) with Stephenson Room (30 standing) for pre-dinner drinks - these rooms are interconnected.
