Located on the ground floor of this award-winning Grade II listing venue and fully accessible, the Smeaton room has high ceilings and the large windows allow in lots of natural daylight. Guests will be amazed by the rich and dark French walnut panelling and by the domed ceiling lit by a large crystal chandelier. The soft furnishing including curtains and carpets are well-appointed in reds, greens and golds which help create a warm, luxurious feel in the room. There is space to hold up to 150 guests Reception style or 100 guests for a sit-down dinner.



Frequently asked questions

Weddings require a minimum of 100 guests with venue hire starting at £13,800 excluding catering. The maximum capacity for dinner dance is 220 guests. Weddings are exclusively hosted on Saturdays and Sundays only.

Wedding packages include room hire, 3-course set dinner menu with coffee, wine service, and table setup. Specific pricing and inclusions vary by guest count and requirements. All packages exclude VAT and additional services like entertainment or extended hours.

Weddings are only available on Saturdays and Sundays. Weekday wedding requests are not accommodated. The venue operates a provisional hold system for available dates, and the building is currently under refurbishment which limits site visit availability.

Late extension fees apply as follows: 11pm-midnight costs £500-£550, 11pm-1am costs £1,200-£1,300, and 11pm-2am costs £1,900. These fees are in addition to the base package pricing and exclude VAT.

The venue prohibits naked flames and smoke for decorations. Entertainment options are available through the venue's recommended suppliers, and they can provide guidance on suitable entertainment for wedding receptions.

Show round appointments are available Monday-Friday from 9:30am-5:00pm. However, site visits are currently limited due to ongoing building refurbishment. Advance booking is required and same-day viewings are typically not available.

Wedding packages include set menus with options to upgrade to choice menus for £13.50-£15.00 per person (maximum 3 choices per course). Pre-dinner canapés cost £12.50-£12.75 per person for 3 pieces, and additional courses cost £10.50-£11.00 per person.

Wedding packages typically include house wine service (2 glasses for reception, half bottle with meal). Upgrades available include sparkling wine reception (£2.40-£4.20 per person) or champagne reception (£10.40-£15.60 per person). Bar setup costs £295 and includes 2 staff members.

The venue operates a provisional hold system for dates while clients make decisions. Specific payment terms and deposit requirements are discussed during the booking process. All pricing excludes VAT which is added to final costs.

Wedding receptions can utilize multiple interconnected rooms including the Smeaton Room for dinner (up to 100 seated), Brunel Room for pre-dinner drinks, and other combinations depending on guest count. Room selection depends on final numbers and event flow requirements.
