It is the perfect venue for presentations, corporate meetings, and private film screenings - during the recent refurbishment, the auditorium lighting has been adapted to suit clients requirements and now enables us to colourwash the walls and ceiling in any corporate colours required. On-site technical support and the capacity to stage video conferencing and satellite links, allows you to stage the most innovated events possible. Cinema 1 claims three simultaneous translation booths, fully-integrated stage lighting and two sound rigs that can be adapted to the needs of each client.




Frequently asked questions

Cinema 1 day hire (08:30-17:00) costs £6,100+VAT and evening hire (17:30-23:00) costs £5,100+VAT. Both require a minimum catering spend of £5,000+VAT. The venue has a capacity of 280 people in raked auditorium seating.

Cinema 1 includes a 34,000lms 4K DLP cinema projector with 1920 x 1080 50i HD resolution, screen, PA system, 3 cabled microphones, Wi-Fi, full use of house lighting system, and a dedicated technician for sound and lighting. The lighting can be colour-washed to match corporate colours.

The Frobisher Triple Room accommodates 170 theatre style or 96 cabaret style. Individual Frobisher Suites range from 10-170 theatre, 24-100 classroom, 16-32 boardroom, 24-96 cabaret, 50-175 reception, or 50-150 fork buffet. The rooms have sliding partitions to create larger spaces when needed.

The Frobisher Triple Room day hire (08:30-17:00) costs £3,200+VAT with a minimum catering spend of £1,500+VAT. An overnight hold costs an additional £950+VAT. The hire includes LCD projector (8000lms WUXGA resolution), screen, and Wi-Fi.

Evening venue hire (17:30-00:00) for the Garden Room & Conservatory costs £7,800+VAT with a minimum catering spend of £3,000+VAT. The space accommodates 220 banquet, 180 dinner/dance, 450 reception, 180 seated buffet, or 350 fork buffet.

Additional equipment includes PA System & Microphone for £111+VAT (some quotes show £122+VAT), and 55" LCD Screens for £175+VAT (some quotes show £216+VAT). These are in addition to the standard equipment included with venue hire.

Day hire runs 08:30-17:00 and evening hire runs 17:30-00:00 or 18:00-00:00 depending on the space. Tenancy times include setup and de-rig - the venue recommends 1.5 hours for setup and 30 minutes for de-rig. Additional hours can be arranged by speaking to your sales contact.

Invoice payment must be completed prior to the event going ahead. The venue requires both signed contracts and payment before events can proceed, as confirmed in their booking correspondence.

Both Cinema 1 and Auditorium 1 have 220-person capacities and can be fully booked, making them unavailable for certain dates. The venue recommends checking date flexibility if your preferred date is unavailable for these popular spaces.

Catering is provided by Searcys with various menu options available. All spaces have mandatory minimum catering spends ranging from £1,500+VAT to £5,000+VAT depending on the venue. The banqueting team can discuss theming and create original menus tailored to your event.

The Barbican Centre was developed in the Brutalist style of architecture. It is a performing arts centre, the largest of its kind in Europe. The Barbican Centre was built after Barbican Estate which is a housing complex situated in an area that was bombed heavily in WWII. The centre holds theatre performances, film screenings, music concerts, and art exhibitions. As well as being a world class arts venue, the Barbican Centre also boasts one it's very own tropical Conservatory, which is one of the most unusual venues in London for weddings.
