Christmas in the Sky at Searcys at the Gherkin

We kicked off the festive season with a Christmas party extravaganza with our clients at Searcys at the Gherkin last week.

As far as London buildings go, The Gherkin is undeniably iconic. Nestled amongst fellow skyscrapers, its beautiful facade is recognisable for miles.

On the evening of the 3rd of December, our guests were whisked up to the 34th floor where there is a private cloakroom. A second private lift then took them up to the 39th and 40th floor, where they were greeted with a glass of Taittinger Champagne, and the first glimpse of Searcys' shimmering gold Christmas tree.

Throughout the drinks reception, our clients enjoyed the view, had some 'family-style' photos around the tree and enjoyed the opportunity to do craft beer tasting with Freedom Brewery. Guests were then invited up the spiral stairs to the showstopper that is the Iris Bar with its famed dome, where they were serenaded by carol singers, provided by Prelude Entertainment, in true festive spirit.

The drinks flowed as guests mingled, enjoyed the music and of course, took in the breathtaking views of London at night.

The Food

The catering was a real highlight of the evening, from delicate canapés to crowd pleasing bowl food and sensational food stations.

Canapés included cured sea bass, soy, sesame; crab and avocado tart; crisp honeyed ham hock, apple; duck pancake, hoisin, cucumber; goats cheese, walnut, honey; and falafel.

These were followed by deliciously intricate bowl food dishes of steak and chips with Béarnaise and watercress; scallop, air dried ham, butternut squash; and basil risotto.

A stunning food station of artisan cheeses, breads, crackers, chutneys and fruit finished off the evening in style.

The wonders of the Gherkin doesn't stop there. Sitting on the 38th floor of this Norman Foster designed building, the sky-high private rooms are aptly named after clouds; Alto, Cirrus, Stratus, Cumulus and Nimbus, offering a combination of stunning views, catering excellence and impeccable service.

Floating up amongst the clouds, these spaces are designed to a high-end aesthetic, making the most of the unrivalled vistas. Ideal for events of varying sizes and functions, from board meetings of 18 to intimate dinners for 20 or drinks receptions for up to 30.
