The Georgian Room
The Georgian Room is full of historic character & features and is the ideal space to host daytime catering for a conference or presentation. Offering pleasing views over our Atrium, the Georgian Room is linked to our Library & Writing Room enabling this space to be used on its own or in conjunction with these additional spaces offering versatility and larger capacity, The Georgian Room can also be used as an informal breakout area, exhibitions, private dining & photoshoots.
Located on the 1st floor, our Library overlooks Albemarle Street and contains a fascinating collection of scientific books which make an impressive feature of the space. The Library has an abundance of history & character and is widely used as a standing catering space for daytime conferences, meetings or evening receptions. Although, this space is also ideal for board meetings, training sessions, presentations & dinners.
The Writing Room
The Writing Room is our smallest room at the Royal Institution and with its book-lined walls, it provides a traditional feel. This space is light and airy and being linked to two larger spaces is the perfect overflow space from the Library & Georgian Room for standing receptions for larger conferences. It can also be used as a VIP Room or a space for speakers during the daytime.
The Conversation Room and Mezzanine
The Conversation Room & Mezzanine provide an excellent space which puts a modern twist on a traditional library setting. Located on the ground floor, the walls are adorned with books and the room provides an ideal location for corporate meetings, presentations, workshops, receptions, dinners and parties. With in-built AV, room hire includes a screen, projector, PA system, lectern, laptop & laptop clicker. The adjoining Mezzanine offers the perfect space for your daytime catering for a meeting or post dinner drinks.
The Sunley Room is located on the Ground Floor and offers a wonderful Georgian setting for your event. Immersed with character and located off our main entrance, this is the ideal space for breakfast meetings, boardroom meetings, smaller presentations, for up to 40 guests receptions & private dinners.
The Atrium and Exhibition
The stunning glass atrium space provides a thoroughly modern alternative for a drinks reception. At its centre is a glass lift with the space opening out to the upper levels, flooding it with natural daylight to give the sense of being outside, yet sheltered from the British weather. All prices listed are exclusive of VAT.
Our spacious & beautifully refurbished theatre is perfect for a whole spectrum of events. The auditorium itself is ideal for conferences, forums, seminars & screening events housing up to 420 guests. Fully equipped with AV, the theatre includes a full range PA system, projector, screen, laptop, combination of 10 microphones, audio recording, basic stage lighting, lectern & panel furniture, two comfort monitors, laser pointer/clicker and a dedicated technician for the duration of the event. We can also offer a dedicated internet line for live streaming.
The Demonstration Room
Our most contemporary room at the Royal Institution, the Demonstration Room offers a versatile and functional event space. A bright and welcoming space, this room is located on the First Floor and is often used as a speakers green room due to its locality to the Theatre. Alternatively, this can be used for larger conferences & exhibitions as an additional catering space or as a further breakout room. In-built AV is included in the room and hire costs and includes a screen, projector, PA system, lectern, laptop & laptop clicker.

The Royal Institution is a unique & prestigious venue located in the heart of Mayfair. Housing nine remarkable event spaces which boast a variety of graceful Georgian features alongside contemporary design; the Ri offers a 400-seat auditorium with further spaces ideal for presentations, private dining, seminars and receptions. All revenue from our venue hire is donated back into our charity.
Working with our in-house catering supplier, Searcys, we have created a range of innovative and delicious menus to suit all occasions with a focus on providing modern, British & sustainable hospitality.
