The Gladstone Library on the 2nd floor of One Whitehall Place offers a very special event space. Once housing over 25,000 books, the Grade I listed Gladstone Library is perfect for any type of conference, drinks reception, Christmas party or dinner seating up to 250 people.

The Library interlinks directly with the Reading & Writing Room, which offers views over Whitehall Gardens, London Eye and River Thames allowing you further flexible space for your event.




Frequently asked questions

The Meston Suite costs £1,000 room hire for drinks receptions. The Whitehall Suite and Reception costs £5,000 room hire with a £5,000 minimum food and beverage spend for 100 attendees. Churchill's Bar has a £400 room hire cost for arrival drinks. The London Meeting room is available at £500.

The Meston Suite accommodates up to 72 banqueting, 80 reception, 70 theatre, 48 cabaret, 45 classroom, or 32 U-shape. The Whitehall Suite holds 150 dinner & dance or 280 reception. The Gladstone Library seats 160 cabaret, while the River Room handles 72 banqueting, 80 reception, 70 theatre, 48 cabaret, 45 classroom, 32 U-shape, or 26 boardroom.

Dinner packages start from £120-£145 per person including one glass of sparkling wine on arrival, three-course pre-ordered set menu, room hire, half bottle of house wine and mineral water per person, menus, candelabras and mirrored centrepieces, and table plan. Christmas packages are £145 per person with additional Christmas decorations, crackers and mini mince pies. Minimum numbers are typically 20-80 depending on the package.

Day Delegate Rates range from £88-£152 per person and include arrival tea/coffee, mid-morning break, working buffet lunch served in meeting room, afternoon break, room hire, flipchart with pads and pens, delegate stationery, mineral water, mints, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Continental breakfast can be added for £35-£42 per person. Minimum numbers are typically 25-50 people.

Silver Package: £35 per person for one hour of house wine, beer and soft drinks (£55 with spirits). Gold Package: £55-£65 per person for two hours. Diamond Package: £85-£90 per person for three hours. Champagne Package: £95-£110 per person for three hours including house champagne. Individual bottles start from £43 house wine, £48 sparkling wine, £80 champagne, and £7 bottled beer.

The venue typically holds space for short periods requiring confirmation by specific deadlines, often within 24-48 hours. Examples include holding until "Wednesday at 3pm" or requiring confirmation "by 4pm today." Space is released if confirmation is not received by the stated deadline, so prompt decision-making is essential.

Additional catering includes canapés from £29 per person, finger food from £55 per person, bowl food from £85 per person, and cheese and port from £32 per person. The venue can accommodate halal menus and provides events bar menus for soft drinks. Continental breakfast costs £35 per person, while full English buffet breakfast is £46 per person.

AV services include large PA system with four speakers (£250), gooseneck microphones at £60 each, handheld microphones at £60 each, 42" comfort monitors (£265), Sony cameras with tripods (£615), laptops with Zoom/Teams (£35), and on-site AV technicians at £350 each. Delivery and collection charges are £95. All prices exclude VAT.

The Whitehall Suite and Reception have restricted access via stairs only. The Gladstone Library is located on the 2nd floor and interconnects with the Reading & Writing Room for additional flexible space. Site visits can be arranged and are recommended, with availability typically from 10am to 4:30pm on weekdays.

The River Room is available for filming at £1,000 for full day hire (reduced from higher rates), with no half-day options available. Evening filming from 6:30pm-11pm can be arranged for £700. The venue accommodates documentary filming, interviews, and commercial photography with flexible timing within the hired period.
