Weekend events require minimum spends from £10,000 + VAT.

What are the capacity limits for different event layouts in The Common Room?

The Common Room accommodates up to 96 guests cabaret style with catering served in the room, 144 guests cabaret with catering in a different room, 150 theatre style with catering in the room, 180 guests theatre style including stage, or 244 theatre style with catering in adjacent space. For seated dinners with stage setup, capacity is 180 guests on round tables.

What AV equipment is included and what are the additional costs?

Standard AV package costs £400 + VAT and includes stage, screen/projector, two repeater screens, lectern with lectern mic, and handheld mic. For smaller rooms like David Lloyd George, basic AV (screen, projector, one handheld microphone) costs £300 + VAT. An AV technician is included to assist with setup.

What are the DDR package options and what do they include?

DDR packages vary by room and guest count. Common Room DDR for 100+ guests costs £103.50 + VAT per person including exclusive hire 9:00-17:00, organiser access from 8:00 AM, refreshments, buffet lunch, AV equipment, and dedicated team. Strand & Fleet DDR for 40+ guests costs £124.50 + VAT per person for evening events with 3-course dinner and drinks.

What catering options and pricing are available through Graysons?

In-house catering by Graysons includes two-course dinners at £57 + VAT per person, three-course meals, and various reception packages. Christmas packages start at £172 + VAT per person including prosecco, wine, three-course dinner, DJ, and decorations. Ceremony packages for 300+ guests cost £52.50 + VAT per person with exclusive hire and bowl food options.

Are there restrictions on when events can be held and what are weekend requirements?

The building is open to the public and Law Society members on weekdays, which may affect communal area access during daytime events. Weekend events are possible but require higher minimum spends from £10,000 + VAT. The restaurant is closed throughout August, affecting catering options during that period.

Security is mandatory for evening events and is included in most packages. Dedicated event team is provided for all bookings. Cloakroom facilities are available (unmanned in most packages). The Common Room is the largest space with wedding license, stage, and top-range AV systems. Reading Room features wedding license, fixed speakers, built-in PA system, and dramatic grandeur with gilded gallery. Strand, Fleet & Bell are three interconnecting soundproofed rooms overlooking Royal Courts of Justice. Smaller spaces like Holden Room and David Lloyd George are available for intimate events.

What are the booking and payment procedures?

The venue offers provisional holds for 7 days while clients consider options. Site visits can be arranged with the sales team during business hours (typically 9:30-16:30). All pricing is quoted plus VAT. The venue provides detailed proposals with costings tailored to specific requirements after initial enquiry.
