What are the different event spaces available and their capacity limits?

Chotto Matte offers three main event spaces: Claude's (private) accommodates up to 20 seated or 50 standing with a £5,000 minimum spend; Itamae (semi-private) seats up to 40 guests with an £8,000 minimum spend; and the Lava Lounge/Bar & Lounge (semi-private) holds up to 60 seated or 80 standing with a £10,000 minimum spend. All minimum spends exclude the mandatory 15% service charge.

What are the exact costs and mandatory charges for booking?

Each space requires a minimum food and beverage spend plus a mandatory 15% service charge on top. Claude's requires £5,000 + 15% service charge (£750), Itamae requires £8,000 + 15% service charge (£1,200), and Lava Lounge requires £10,000 + 15% service charge (£1,500). The full minimum spend must be prepaid as a deposit when signing the contract.

What are the standard operating hours for events?

Events typically run from 18:00 to 00:00 (6pm to midnight). For lunch events, the venue can accommodate 12:00 to 16:00 timing. Setup time may be available from 16:30 for evening events, though this should be confirmed when booking.

How does the booking and payment process work?

To secure your booking, you must provide a signed copy of the standard contract and prepay the agreed minimum spend as a deposit. This deposit is then redeemed against your final bill on the day of the event. The venue requires these steps to be completed before confirming your reservation.

What dining options are available and are there menu restrictions?

For groups of 9 or more, all guests must dine from the same set menu, served sharing style. Sample group dining menus start from £95 per person and are curated by Executive Chef Jordan Sclare, featuring dishes from four distinct kitchens. The venue accommodates dietary requirements including vegan and vegetarian alternatives.

What entertainment and technical facilities are included?

Claude's includes a private bar and DJ booth with equipment. The Lava Lounge features live DJ capabilities and floor-to-ceiling bi-foldable windows. Itamae offers an open sushi counter experience. Additional technical requirements like microphones or staging may be available but should be discussed during booking.

Can I arrange exclusive hire of the entire venue?

Yes, exclusive hire of the first floor is available for larger events up to 140 seated or 200 standing guests, with a minimum spend of £15,000 plus 15% service charge. For very large events (130+ guests), minimum spends can reach £16,666.66 plus service charge depending on requirements and timing.

What happens if my event doesn't meet the minimum spend?

The minimum food and beverage spend is mandatory regardless of actual consumption. If your final bill is less than the minimum spend, you will still be charged the full minimum amount plus the 15% service charge. The prepaid deposit covers this minimum spend requirement.

Are there restrictions on event types or guest behavior?

The venue caters to various event types including corporate parties, birthday celebrations, and private dining. All events must follow the set menu policy for groups over 9 people. Specific restrictions on entertainment, decorations, or other event elements should be discussed during the booking process.

What catering packages are available beyond the set menus?

Beyond group dining menus, the venue offers canapé menus for standing receptions, welcome drinks packages, and cocktail options from £10. Wine and beer start from £6.50. Welcome prosecco can sometimes be included complimentary. Specific drink packages and pricing should be discussed based on your event requirements.
