What are the different event spaces available and their capacity limits?

The Oyster Shed offers three main event spaces: a roped off area accommodating up to 30 guests standing (£600-£900 minimum spend), the Rockefeller Lounge semi-private area for up to 130 guests standing (£3,500-£6,750 minimum spend), and the Captain's Table private room for up to 25 guests (£1,000-£1,600 minimum spend). The exact area assigned depends on your group size and availability.

What are the minimum spend requirements and what do they include?

Minimum spends vary by space and time: roped off areas require £600-£900, Rockefeller Lounge requires £3,500-£6,750, and Captain's Table requires £1,000-£1,600. All minimum spends are inclusive of food, beverage, and 12.5% service charge (inclusive of VAT). There are no additional room hire charges when minimum spends are met.

What are the standard event time slots and age restrictions?

Events typically run from 6:30pm-11pm for evening slots, with some daytime options from 1pm-4:30pm or 12pm-5pm available. The venue operates an 18+ policy after 6pm, so events with under-18 guests must be scheduled for earlier time slots. Some flexibility exists for alternative timings like 4pm-11pm or 5:30pm-11pm.

How far in advance must food and drinks be ordered and paid for?

All food and drink orders must be placed or amended up to 5 working days in advance of your event via their online ordering system. Full prepayment of the pre-order is required 1 week in advance of the event. Individual ordering is not permitted for group events to track minimum spend requirements.

What deposit is required and what are the payment terms?

A 20% deposit is required to secure any booking, payable via an online link sent to your email address. The deposit must be paid within 48 hours of receiving the link. The venue does not hold areas without a deposit, so immediate confirmation is necessary to secure your date.

Can guests order individually or must everything be on one tab?

For large group events, individual ordering is not permitted as there is no way to track the minimum spend requirement. All orders are placed onto one accumulative tab which can be split at the end if needed. This applies to both food pre-orders and bar service during the event.

What are the key features and limitations of the Captain's Table private room?

The Captain's Table is a private room on the balcony level with floor-to-ceiling windows and unobstructed Thames views, accommodating up to 25 guests. You get a personal server and can choose between in-house music or your own playlist. However, the room is not completely sound-insulated from the rest of the venue.

What food and beverage options are available for events?

Events can choose from group pre-order menus, reduced a la carte options, or canape and sharers menus. For groups of 50 or more, you must select one dish per course for the entire group with individual dietary requirements catered for separately. All menus are ordered via their online system and must be prepaid in advance.
