Frequently asked questions

The venue operates on exclusive hire only, meaning you get access to all spaces regardless of event size. Based on quotes provided, dry hire packages start from £12,000 + VAT for 12-hour access, while full catering packages range from £73-£219 + VAT per person depending on requirements. Wedding dry hire is quoted at £8,500 + VAT with access from 12:00 to 00:00.

The Great Hall accommodates up to 350 guests for seated dinner, 300 guests in cabaret style with no screens, or up to 550 guests standing throughout the building. Theatre style can accommodate 300 guests with stage and screens. The venue is described as quite large, which is reflected in higher venue hire costs for smaller events.

The venue offers both in-house catering packages and dry hire options for external caterers. In-house packages include everything from simple refreshments (£73 + VAT per person) to full fine dining with drinks (£219 + VAT per person). For dry hire, you can use kitchen facilities with your chosen external caterers, and they provide a list of preferred suppliers who have previously catered at the venue.

Standard packages include stage, microphones, atmospheric lighting, PA system, and dancefloor access. Additional AV options include large screens and projectors (£2,500 + VAT for comprehensive AV package), up to 4 repeater screens, and tech assistants for up to 10 hours. The venue allows external AV suppliers to be brought in, though specific costs or restrictions for this should be confirmed directly.

Most events run with exclusive hire from early morning (08:00-09:00) until midnight or 01:00, with packages typically including 12-hour access. Setup access can be arranged earlier, with some quotes mentioning access from 06:00 or 07:00 for AV setup. Wedding packages offer 12:00 to 00:00 access, which can be amended to suit your event needs.

All packages include security staff for the duration of your event, cloakroom staff throughout the event, and basic banqueting furniture (up to thirty 5ft 6" tables and 300 chairs, plus up to six occasional tables). Chiavari chairs are available at additional cost. The venue provides linen, glassware, cutlery and crockery as standard.

The venue allows light branding opportunities including signage, pull-up banners, and potential digital branding. For dry hire events, all rubbish must be removed by you and your team. The venue can accommodate staging with up to 4 blocks of stage (4ft x 8ft each), and there's flexibility for decorating with flowers and accommodating bands or entertainment.

Drinks options range from basic packages (half bottle of house wine per person) to unlimited packages (2-4 hours of house wine, beer, and soft drinks). Arrival drinks typically include prosecco or sparkling wine. Cash and account bars are available, with some packages requiring minimum bar spends of £2,000 + VAT. All packages include unlimited still and sparkling water.

The venue is described as "quite a large venue" and staff often redirect smaller events to sister venues Brewers Hall or Coopers Hall for better cost-effectiveness. The venue hire costs are noted to be "considerably out of budget" for smaller events, suggesting it's most cost-effective for larger gatherings of 200+ guests.

The venue includes the Great Hall (main event space), Livery Hall (often used for catering or drinks receptions), and Humber Room. For multi-part events, the Livery Hall is typically used for drinks receptions while the Great Hall hosts the main event, with guests moving between spaces as needed. All spaces are included in the exclusive hire regardless of event size.
