Plaisterers’ Hall

Dry hire costs £8,500 + VAT for weddings with 12-hour access (12:00-00:00), including kitchen facilities for external caterers, atmospheric lighting, dance floor, staging, PA system, security, cloakroom staff, and banqueting furniture. For corporate events, dry hire is £12,000 + VAT for 12 hours. All packages require exclusive venue hire regardless of guest numbers.

The Great Hall accommodates 350 guests maximum for seated dinner, 550 guests standing throughout the building, and 300 guests in theatre style with stage and screens (cabaret style with no screens). For events requiring round tables for all guests, the maximum is 350 seated - larger numbers would need standing reception format.

Sample packages include: Christmas dinner at £106-£132 + VAT per person (3-course meal, prosecco, half bottle wine, exclusive hire 18:30-00:00). Conference packages from £73-£93.50 + VAT per person including venue hire, refreshments, and AV. All catering can be provided in-house or you can use external caterers with the dry hire option.

Standard packages include stage, microphones, PA system, atmospheric lighting, and basic projection. Enhanced AV includes large screens, projectors, repeater screens, and tech assistants (up to 10 hours) for additional cost. The venue allows external AV suppliers and provides power for exhibitor stands and basic technical setup.

Most events run 18:30-00:00 for evening functions or 09:00-17:00 for daytime conferences. Setup access is typically available 30-60 minutes before guest arrival. For complex AV setups, 3-hour evening-before access can be arranged for testing and exhibitor setup.

The venue is described as 'quite large' with venue hire costs that may be 'considerably out of budget' for smaller events. Staff regularly redirect smaller events (under 100 guests) to sister venues Brewers Hall and Coopers Hall, suggesting Plaisterers' Hall is most suitable for larger gatherings of 200+ guests.

The venue includes the Great Hall (main event space), Livery Hall (drinks receptions, catering area), and Humber Room. For large events, the Livery Hall hosts arrival drinks before moving to the Great Hall for dinner, or serves as a separate catering/networking area during conferences.

All packages include security, cloakroom staff, and basic furniture. Chiavari chairs incur additional costs. Bar service operates on cash/account basis with minimum bar spends (e.g., £2,000 + VAT for some events). The venue provides linen, glassware, cutlery, and crockery as standard.

Initial availability checks are done via email with the events team. Detailed quotes are provided based on specific requirements including guest numbers, catering preferences, and AV needs. The venue offers bespoke packages that can be amended based on client requirements, with final pricing confirmed after specification details.

External caterers can use kitchen facilities with dry hire packages. External AV suppliers are permitted with advance arrangement. The venue provides preferred supplier lists for catering and other services. All rubbish must be removed by the client and their team with dry hire bookings.
