What are the room hire rates for different spaces and time periods?
Room hire varies by space and duration. The Waldo Williams 1 (16 guests boardroom) costs £595.00 for 09:00-17:00, while the Ada Salter Suite 1-2 (22 cabaret) costs £850.00 for 09:00-17:00. The Marjorie Sykes room (28 boardroom) is £975.00 for 08:30-17:00. All venue hire is VAT exempt and includes complimentary water, dedicated screen/projector, Wi-Fi, and flipchart.
What catering packages are available and what do they cost?
Full day catering packages include: £47.00 inc VAT per person (welcome tea/coffee/pastries, mid-morning tea/coffee/biscuits, deli buffet lunch, afternoon tea/coffee/cake, still/sparkling water) or £52.00 inc VAT per person (same as above but with hot finger food buffet lunch instead of deli). A premium package at £39.00 net per person includes welcome refreshments, working lunch, and afternoon refreshments.
What are the capacity limits for different room layouts?
Capacity varies significantly by space and layout. The Ada Salter Suite accommodates up to 22 cabaret style, Waldo Williams 1 holds up to 16 boardroom, and Marjorie Sykes fits 28 boardroom. The Benjamin Lay Suite can accommodate 70 cabaret or 154 theatre in the main room, plus 80 theatre or 42 cabaret in the breakout space.
Are there minimum guest numbers or spending requirements?
The Light Auditorium requires a minimum of 110 people and is only available on a full day basis. For smaller meeting rooms, there don't appear to be minimum guest requirements, but spaces may be declined if the budget is insufficient for the requested capacity and services.
What are the standard operating hours and access times?
Standard venue access is typically 08:00-17:00 or 09:00-17:00 depending on the space. Some rooms offer access from 08:30-17:00. Meeting spaces are generally available from 9am-5pm, and the venue does not offer accommodation for overnight events.
Can external catering be brought in?
No, external catering is not allowed. The venue has a wide variety of food and drink options available through their in-house catering service. They offer various packages including deli buffets, hot finger food, working lunches, and canapé selections.
How far in advance must final catering orders be confirmed?
Due to short notice requirements, final food orders need to be confirmed well in advance. For example, for a January 16th event, the final food order needed to be confirmed by January 8th - giving approximately 8 days notice for catering arrangements.
What AV equipment is included in room hire?
All room hire includes a dedicated screen or projector, complimentary Wi-Fi access, and flipchart as standard. Is there a booking hold period and what are the next steps?
Rooms are not automatically held and remain available for others to book until confirmed. To secure a space, clients need to confirm they want to hold the room in the diary. New customers must return a new customer form as part of the booking process.
Are there any event types that are not suitable for the venue?
The venue does not provide dinner services and some events may be deemed unsuitable. They can accommodate conferences but not dinners, and certain types of events may be declined based on the venue's policies and suitability assessment.
