Reception Room at Barber-Surgeons’ Hall

Venue hire ranges from £1,800 for 6pm-11pm exclusive use to £3,150 for extended 11:30am-11pm hire. The hire includes a hall manager and cloakroom staff. Early access from 4pm onwards costs an additional £250 + VAT unless booked by specific early booking deadlines when it may be complimentary.

Wedding packages include: Christmas Canape Reception Package at £95 per person (welcome cocktail, 6 festive canapes, 4 hours free-flowing drinks, poseur tables with linen), Christmas Seated Lunch at £120 per person (3-course festive menu, pre-dinner drinks, half bottle wine, Christmas crackers), and standard 3-course dinner at £86 per person with drinks packages from £36-£48 per person. All prices exclude VAT.

The venue can accommodate up to 250 guests for standing receptions and up to 120 guests for seated dinners. The Reception Room is included with Great Hall hire and provides space for drinks receptions with the venue's collection of historic barbers' bowls dating back to 1680.

Drinks packages range from £36-£54 per person depending on duration and selection. The 3-hour unlimited package (£54pp) includes house wines, beer and soft drinks, while the standard package (£36pp) includes 1.5 glasses sparkling wine, half bottle red/white wine, soft drinks and water. A 4-hour free-flowing option includes house beer, wine, mulled wine and soft drinks.

Basic AV equipment costs £850 + VAT and includes screen, projector, 2 handheld microphones, and 2 lapel microphones. A stage is available for £350 + VAT. DJ services cost £1,100 + VAT including full equipment and custom pre-requests. Hall staff can assist with basic setup but are not technical experts.

Mandatory additional costs include: hall staff meals at £35-£55 per person for up to 3 staff members, poseur tables at £458 each including delivery and linen, and bar linen at £18-£20 + VAT each. Main tables and chairs are included in the venue hire.

Standard hire periods are 6pm-11pm for evening events or 11:30am-11pm for full day hire. Early access from 4pm may be available for £250 + VAT or complimentary with early booking confirmation. Events typically end by 11pm, though some quotes show flexibility until 11:30pm or midnight.

The venue shows availability issues for certain November dates (24th-25th and 27th-28th were unavailable in one inquiry). December dates appear popular for Christmas events with multiple bookings shown. The venue requests flexibility on dates when preferred dates are unavailable.

Main tables and chairs are included in venue hire. Additional furniture available includes: high poseur tables at £458 each (including delivery and linen), standard poseur tables at £57.60 each, and bar linen at £18-£24 + VAT. The venue can accommodate both seated dining and standing reception layouts.

Early booking by specific deadlines (such as March 18th for events later in the year) can secure complimentary early access that would otherwise cost £250 + VAT. All prices quoted exclude VAT at 20%. The venue requests confirmation of flexibility on dates when preferred dates are unavailable.
