Frequently asked questions

Dry hire starts from £2,000 + VAT for either St Martin's Hall or The Gallery. The Crypt exclusive hire costs £20,000 + VAT (£24,000 including VAT). All quotes are provisional starting points that can be amended based on your specific requirements and budget.

St Martin's Hall and Lightwell accommodate 200 standing or 100 seated, with maximum theatre style capacity of 130. Maximum cabaret capacity is 64 (72 at a squeeze). The conferencing space holds 120 maximum in theatre style. The Crypt and Gallery can hold up to 500 guests standing or 200 seated.

Day delegate rates start from £77 + VAT (minimum 80 people) including room hire, AV, three tea/coffee serves, and working sandwich lunch. Christmas packages are £292.02 per person + VAT including two-course dinner, arrival fizz, wine, and post-dinner bar spend. Bowl food costs £36.83 per person + VAT, canapes £24.55 per person + VAT.

The Crypt requires a £5,000 refundable damage deposit (£6,000 including VAT). Staffing costs £5,772.50 + VAT for larger events. Glassware and cutlery hire ranges from £1,137.43 to £5,804 + VAT depending on event size. Security and basic PA/lighting are typically included in staffing costs.

Basic PA system and lighting are included in room hire. Day delegate packages include projector, screen, lectern with power and HDMI, microphones, dedicated WiFi, and staging on request. More complex AV requirements would need separate quotation and may have additional costs.

Events typically run during daytime hours (8:00am-5:00pm for conferences). Evening events can run until midnight or 1:00am. Setup time is usually 30 minutes before guest arrival (e.g., 5:30pm setup for 6:00pm start). Multi-day events requiring overnight setup may need additional security arrangements.

The venue allows clients to bring in decorations and greenery for product displays. Music performances and entertainment are permitted, including live bands and DJ equipment. Break-dancing events and rap battles have been accommodated, indicating flexibility for various entertainment formats.

Initial enquiries receive provisional quotes that serve as starting points for negotiation. Site visits are offered to view spaces and discuss event details. The venue provides 3D virtual tours via Matterport for remote viewing. Specific payment terms and booking confirmation processes are discussed during the quotation stage.

The venue can accommodate last-minute bookings, with staff asking about events happening "tomorrow" in correspondence. However, popular dates like December Christmas party slots may have limited availability. Early booking is recommended for peak periods and specific date requirements.

Bar spend packages include house wine, beer, soft drinks, fizz, house spirits and mixers, typically costing £2,640 + VAT for 100 guests. Premium packages include champagne and cocktails at £9,812 + VAT. Christmas packages include arrival fizz, half bottle of wine with dinner, and post-dinner bar spend.
