Frequently asked questions
What are the minimum spend requirements and capacity limits for different spaces?
The Tasting Room requires £100 per person including VAT with plasma screen and Wi-Fi included. The Champagne Lounge has a £1,250-£1,500 minimum spend including VAT for up to 50 guests (mix of seating and standing). The Kitchen Bar requires a £1,500-£3,500 minimum spend including VAT for up to 100 guests standing or 50 seated. For exclusive hire of the entire Brasserie, minimum spend is £10,000-£23,400 including VAT with capacity for 170 seated or 350 standing.
What deposit and payment terms are required to secure a booking?
Most spaces require 50% of the minimum spend plus a signed contract to secure the booking, with the remainder due at least 30 days prior to the event. The Champagne Lounge option requires £500 upfront as a deposit towards pre-order, with the remainder made up on the day through guest contributions. For exclusive Brasserie hire, 50% of minimum spend plus 100% of the hire fee is required upfront.
Are there additional mandatory charges beyond the minimum spend?
Yes, a 13% discretionary service charge applies to the total bill and does not contribute toward your minimum spend. If your food and beverage spending doesn't meet the minimum spend requirement, the shortfall is charged as a hire fee. Some exclusive hire options have separate hire fees ranging from £2,000-£3,500 including VAT.
What are the restrictions for semi-private spaces regarding music and facilities?
Semi-private spaces within the Brasserie and Champagne Bar do not allow music as it would interfere with regular service in other areas. Cloakroom facilities are not available for semi-private bookings. These spaces operate within the venue's normal service hours and maintain the ambient atmosphere of the restaurant.
What time slots are available and what are the typical event durations?
Events typically run from 17:00-22:00 for semi-private spaces, with the Champagne Lounge closing at 21:00. The Tasting Room can accommodate day events from 09:30-15:00. Exclusive Brasserie hire extends to 23:30 or 01:00 depending on the package. All timings are subject to the venue's operating hours and licensing restrictions.
What's included in the venue hire and what equipment is provided?
The Tasting Room package includes plasma screen, Wi-Fi access, flipchart on request, branded notepads and pencils, and bottled still and sparkling water replenished throughout the day. Other spaces provide basic venue hire with access to the restaurant's facilities. External entertainment and additional AV equipment are sourced separately and charged additionally.
Can we bring external suppliers or entertainment, and are there restrictions?
The venue works with external artists and suppliers for entertainment, which is charged separately once agreed with the suppliers. For exclusive hire, services like dedicated event planner, guest list check-in, cloakroom service, full staffing, and security are included. Semi-private spaces have more restrictions on external additions due to the shared nature of the venue.
What are the food and beverage options and pricing structure?
Menus are seasonally inspired using fresh British produce and are subject to seasonal changes. Classic 3-course menus start from £50 per person, with upgrade options to Soirée or Deluxe menus available. The venue offers bespoke packages and various drinks packages. All food and beverage spending contributes toward your minimum spend requirement.
Is the venue suitable for conferences or lecture-style events?
The venue is not suitable for conferences as they don't have lecture facilities. The spaces are designed for dining, drinks receptions, and social events rather than formal presentations or educational gatherings. For conference needs, the venue suggests considering their other locations that may have appropriate facilities.
What makes the Champagne Lounge unique and what are the additional costs?
The Champagne Lounge is described as sheltered but considered outdoor space, offering natural light and full cover. It's part of the longest Champagne Bar in Europe with stunning views of St Pancras International Station's historic architecture. Using the Champagne Lounge for outdoor-style receptions requires an additional £500 toward your minimum spend on top of the base requirements.
