The Carlton Room on the ground floor used to be the smoking room of the United Service Club. It is adorned with many rich decorative features including the dramatic Ionic columns in the centre of the room. These are finished in scagliola; a skillful plaster treatment designed to imitate marble and add to the splendour in the room. The walls are also covered by gold leaf on linen; a very expensive and delicate treatment enriching the overall impression of opulence.

The south facing doors open onto a private terrace with views across the garden.




Frequently asked questions

Weekend bookings require a minimum spend of £15,000 to open the venue, as 116 Pall Mall only operates during weekdays normally. This minimum spend covers all costs including venue hire, catering, and services.

Standard venue hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm on weekdays. Early access before 8:00am or late access after 5:00pm/11:00pm costs £1,250 + VAT per hour. Extensions until 1:00am are available at the same hourly rate.

A 50% deposit is required within 14 days of signing the contract. The deposit can be extended in special circumstances (as seen with one booking extended to end of September). Full payment of hire fees and catering packages must be settled prior to the event date.

The Carlton Room accommodates 120 guests for banquet seating with reception space, or 180 guests for banquet seating only, or 300 guests for standing reception. The adjoining terrace holds up to 100 guests for standing reception.

Payments can be made by BACS transfer, phone payment, or payment link (AMEX not accepted on payment link). AMEX payments are accepted via PDQ machine over the phone but incur an additional 5% charge of the invoice value per payment.

Contracts typically must be signed within days of the proposal (one example required signing by Friday with proposal sent earlier that week). Provisional holds can be placed on dates, but other clients may be given 48-hour deadlines to make decisions if competing interest exists.

AV services are available as add-ons with quotes provided separately. Equipment includes screens, projectors, microphones (lapel and handheld), and technical support. Specific AV requirements must be discussed and quoted individually based on the event needs.

116 Pall Mall is fully accessible with accessible toilets, lift access, and ramp access. The venue is located 5 minutes walk from Piccadilly Circus and 4 minutes walk from Charing Cross station.

Security and cloakroom services are included in most wedding packages. These services are mandatory for events and are factored into the overall package pricing rather than charged separately.
